I'm sure we all remember the Paul George incident where he snapped his leg when he came down into the basketball hoop. Due to this the NBA made new basketball hoop regulations and made teams move the hoops back from the baseline. This will help reduce horrific injuries like what happened to Paul George.

In the older days Shaq and other powerhouse centers were known for destroying rims and backboards. Due to the new rim and backboard materials this is basically impossible. This is a good thing because now when players come in with a big dunk there won't
be any delay while waiting for a new hoop.

Rolling an ankle or coming down wrong on a leg happens all the time in the NBA. New products have been able to help prevent these injuries. This is a pretty big deal because rolled and sprained ankles happen all the time and it sucks to see a great player to go down due to something like this.

In the past couple years there has been a huge debate over the safety of football and CTE. There are new helmets now that instead of just cushioning the impact, deflect off horizontally. This is a good step in the right direction of making football "safer".

Major League Baseball (MLB) allows the use of instant replay review to allow league officials to review certain types of plays in order to determine the accuracy of the initial call of the umpires on the field. Reviews may be initiated either by a team's manager with limitations or by the umpires themselves. All instant-replay reviews are examined by an umpire at the Replay Command Center in New York City, who has the final decision as to whether to uphold or overturn the initial call.

While bats made of ash have always been a popular choice, maple, willow and pine were also commonly used, and it wasn’t unheard of to see spruce, cherry, chestnut and sycamore. Basically, if it could be chopped down, it could be a bat. After a couple decades of natural selection, round, ash bats had become the preferred choice. From the 1870s onward, ash continued to be the most popular for major league batters until Barry Bonds picked up a maple bat and started breaking records.

The hockey stick changes length depending on the game situation. If the player is in a defensive mode, the stick can be extended to its maximum allowable length to allow better blocking of shots. When the player transitions to the offensive puck handling mode, the stick reverts to its optimal length as determined by the height and preference of that player. This would be great for situations when your team has a player in the penalty box where defensive play is called for. The stick length could be changed, perhaps, with a push button and spring-loading within a certain range.

This type of cleat stud is still used.
