My favorite part of the story is when the protagonist realized what was actually important during his time at the gym. It was to wait and not give up. To hone your skills even though you haven't had chance to show them. This is what he experienced and used as a new high school student. 

I can relate to this part in a sense too.( but not as important or relevant as our character in the story). I was playing some video games by myself when I saw my brother play the same games and I asked to join. He said I wasn't good enough. Even though I didn't play with him in the tournament I still trained. After a couple of times I stopped asking and just trained. he noticed me training but said nothing. After a couple of weeks he said I could join him for a 3v3. After the game said that we had lost and the match has concluded, he told me I did surprisingly well.
