According to Super Summary and History.com, Uprising is a novel about a historical event that happened in 1911. It happened in New York at the Triangle Shirtwaist factory and the fire killed 146 immigrant workers. The Triangle fire followed a city-wide strike led by shirtwaist workers. The girls that fled down the stairwells were met by a locked door at the bottom of the stairs, many were burned alive. Before the fire, a Union led a strike at the Shirtwaist factory. The workers only got paid a mere 15 dollars a week, they worked 12 hours a day, every day. 49 workers had burned to death or choked on the smoke, 36 were dead in the elevator shaft, 58 died from jumping to the sidewalks, and 2 or more died from their injuries later in time.

Yes, During the fire, Margaret Peterson Haddix put a lot of detail into making it sound like real history. She explained how the doors were locked and the intensity started to rise. On the websites that I read, It says how some people managed to escape to the roof, some people jumped, and some people got burned alive. In the book, Jane burned to death in the fire on the 9th floor, and Yetta jumped from the building, trying to grab the latter but missed. She fell on a net with Jacob, but when she fell, the net snapped. Bella escaped to the roof with people on the 10th floor. Bella also said later in the book that Yetta's death had accomplished more things she wanted to accomplish in her life. Margaret Peterson Haddix also did very well with describing the strike in the book and how Yetta never gave up on it.

Right where you left me is a song by Taylor Swift from the album "Evermore." The song is explaining how she is stuck in the past from a relationship and can't move on with her life. Taylor mentions the age of 23 where the protagonist froze in time after a brutal breakup. In the song, she says that dust collected on her pinned-up hair and that everyone expected her to find somewhere, which shows how time froze and she was still there, at the restaurant. The relationship affected her because she couldn't move on, she kind of explained it as she carved her future out on a stone with this guy, but when he left, it was hard to erase those carvings. Taylor recalls a time when she was sitting in the corner, cross-legged signaling that she was nervous, The dim light around her covers up her emotions in her face, and this is where he left her, and she never left that spot.
