I start each of my groups with asking the students about how their day has been so far or by asking for something fun they did over the weekend if it is a Monday. It brings something a little more personal to our relationship.

When making up my own materials, I make sure to include the names of the students as well as try to incorporate some of their interests into the word problems. I use multiple visual aids (student artwork , teacher samples, and internet visuals) as well as my teacher created Bitmoji Presentations that are displayed on the white board.  These materials help differentiate instruction for all levels of learners.  I also display two and three tier vocabulary pertinent to the art lesson on the board for student reference or embed it within my presentation and have an art word wall bulletin board. Hand-outs are also available for students that need additional visuals.
