I am a teacher for children with special needs in a primary school, so I don't really teach to the classroom unless the pupils are divided in groups, that said, I may consider the following experiences:
A) low level of collaboration
B) high level of collaboration

A) During our art lesson, the pupils were told to work in pairs to drow a dinosaur, they shared little ideas, decided the colors, the type of animal they wanted to represent, but it was just between two, so in my opinion not much collaboration.
B) Last year we made an Etwinning project with a school in Rotterdam, and we had to create a Power Point to send to our parners to show them what with did during our pet Therapy sessions. We made 5 groups and each of them had think about a slide, choose the background, the picture, the style...... They had a lot of fun, did quite a lot of discussion about what to do, but in the end each group did a very good job. The final product is the one we sent to our partners.
I found that this activity had high level of collaboration because the pupils:
- learned to share ideas
- each one of them could see at least on of his/her suggestion used ( picture, style, color, sentences..)
- they we very happy and proud of their work once the sow the slides put together

I agree that speaking the same language is very important. You can learn how to do it. The new technology can support in this task. Pupils are very interested in tablets, lim, new apps, so, in my classroom we are trying to engage them building together short lessons. We have just started to do this, but as a first time it went well, we got their attention and collaboration.

Ok...... Being a teacher for children with special needs in a mainstream classroom, I actually don't design personally the classroom lessons, but I took this course in order to learn more tools to be a better classroom teacher once my time comes. Said that....I can think of a couple of activities my collegues and I have proposed to the pupils. In general we work with code 1.
We work with a code 2 during english lessons, when kids are required to work in pairs, correct each other homework. Very seldom we work with code 3 and never with a code 4-5 even because we have very young pupils

This is my first attempt with this tool.
I will pretend to be teaching to the class, since I am a teacher for children with special needs, so I won't actually be doing it, but I will pass the plan to my mainstream collegue.
So... We are in a primary school and the pupils are 9-10 years old,
I choose english as the subject and I pretended to teach the "I like/ I don't like form". We will introduce the grammatical use of this form, them we will show them some engaging videos on the subject, then we will ask them to work in pairs, so to have a minimum degree of collaboration and sharing. Each pupil will write down his/her partner "likes and dislikes" then repeat them orally. After having practiced they should be able to present their partner "likes and dislikes" to the whole class. We will assess their collaboration by walking through the classroom, looking at their work, listening to their conversations
The outcome should be: learning grammar, working with a peer, telling the class a bit of your partner through " I ilke/ I don't like".
