Never would I have ever imagined the entire world would shut down. At this point, I think everyone has just overreacted. This virus is no different than the flu or any other illnesses, except for the fact that there is currently no definite treatment. However, when you look at long lived research, when it comes to isolating, people who are sick are the ones who must hunker down. By making the entire country lock down, the antibodies which help protect us from ailments are being negatively affected, due to not being exposed to the common world. The deaths from cancer and the flu by far exceed COVID 19 deaths. In fact, many of the reported deaths from the coronavirus are not actually directly related to the virus, but other causes. Personally, I believe this quarantining has gone on way too long, and it is very much necessary for us to go back to normal lifestyles; otherwise, we will end up encountering more issues. It doesn’t make sense to me that we would be instructed to stay home for this long, because by keeping ourselves isolated, we are seemingly harming ourselves. At some point, either everyone is going to have to become immune to COVID 19, or be infected by it and suffer from it. In that case, the individual should then quarantine themselves. In my neighborhood, there hasn’t been much action, but I have seen more people walking or riding bikes than ever. I have been running 2 miles with my dad frequently. I’ve spent quite some time outside, whether it be running 2 miles or playing around with my lacrosse, learning new skills. I’ve tie dyed socks and a t-shirt as well. I also made dinner for the family every night for a whole week, but now, I just do it 2-5 times per week. Additionally, I’ve been baking different things. I made cookies out of rolled oats, peanut butter, and chocolate. They were absolutely delicious!! During this quarantine, I have been able to sleep a lot more and I am very happy about that! Schoolwork has taken up a lot of my time, and, thankfully, we are down to the last few weeks. I am so excited for this lock down to be over. Luckily, I am going to see my friend this upcoming weekend to celebrate her birthday. I can’t explain how ecstatic I am to get out of the neighborhood and see some people other than those of which I have been stuck with for the past month and a half. I want to see my friends and go back to my normal life. Recently, there has slowly been more places opening. Yesterday, the boat ramps were opened, and that is good news. Now, my dad and I are able to go out with friends on the boat and have fun again. Also, since I can get my permit in 4 months, I am supposed to be learning to drive the boat, and now we can go out! The governor has further announced that small businesses are going to open soon, as well as parks! This could be the start of normal life again!! That means travel lacrosse might still be able to happen! If we receive that news soon, that would be great, especially since summer camp at Crestridge was just cancelled. So sad. I was really looking forward to going for my Choctaw year and the Arapahowdown! I long to go back there this summer! On another high note, I’m going to see my friend tomorrow for her birthday, and we’re attending a “party” for her and her twin on Sunday! Additionally, I have been craving to go to the beach, and I am really hoping they open them soon.
