     An Effect that a one-word paragraph can do is put a person in shock. For example, In paragraph 2 Ryan response's to a world problem is "Water?" This show's the confusion that Ryan had faced. In Africa, he didn't know they didn't have fresh water.
Then, in paragraph 3 says "Ryan thought of his own house in Canada"..."All they had to do was turn on a tap, and came out all the clean water they could possibly want." Meaning that Ryan is comparing the fact how he has all the water he needs, but Africa does not."
