I never realized the difference between rhythm and beat. I think I've confused the two a lot considering that they're so similar. I chose Jazmine Sullivan because I love the timbre of her voice, its calm but strong at the the same time. I think that adds a lot of emotion to her songs. When she sings in a high pitch its piercing. She goes back and forth between high and low pitches so it creates this soft smoky tone color. It gives this perception that she's singing with a deeper meaning. She sings to the rhythm of the guitar which has this pianissimo pitch. All ties together with a slightly slow tempo. Even though I have experience in band and choir, I never had them explained to me. An observation that I made is that there are many words to describe the elements of music. When looking at the words that were being added to describe the singers, I was shocked by the different word choices. 

In this song by Giveon, I would describe the timbre of his voice as warm but also strong. I think the song is very smooth and that adds to the emotions that he is trying to convey. He comes into the aggressively so the listener can feel what he is feeling. He also has his classic nasal, kinda worn-out voice that fits the sonic atmosphere of the music so well. The electric guitar in the solo section is sharp enough to be distint and memorable, but dulled enough to not annoy the listener. I would describe The Weeknd's timbre in this song as breathy and silky. His dynamic level through the song changes. He starts of soft(piano) and then once it get's to the pre chorus and chorus it shifts to mezzo forte. I love The Weeknd's voice in the song, it's very soothing to hear and I love the build up to the chorus.
