We are testing different elements to see what colors they produce when they come in contact with fire.

Why does this phonomenon happen?

The electrons somewhat get energized when they come in contact with the flame and they produce a certain color.

How did you do it?

I took the Bunsen burner and would take my stick with the element on it and I would stick with the element into the fire and watch the magic happen.

What happened in your experiment?

The elements on the stick all reacted differently when they got in touch with the flame for example when the lithium touched the flame t turned into a bright pink color.

How did you determine your unknown

I created a chart and I would observe every element and stick and I wrote down which element produced what color and from that I was able to determine that my unknown element was lead.
