As a group we decided that we could use the old fashioned 'woods' which are normally seen in thrillers because it adds a sense of spookiness into our film, additionally it would also juxtapose our other locations we had planned in our film which were a children's park and a house. Traditionally, a park would be seen as a safe and secure place for children to go and play on as well as a home which is always seen as the safest place you can be so together we decided that if we filmed our thriller in a wood's it would add more fear into our film.

Firstly, there was the idea of a single location thriller which would have involved us going to one location and filming the entire thriller opening there which was a very effective idea. This was done in Buried (2010) - this was one of the most singled location films ever. It was a master class when it came to keeping the audiences attention while never actually going anywhere; this seemed like a good idea as it would be very different however it would be very hard to pull off.

Secondly, there was the idea of filming our thriller in a woods or forest which is very commonly used for horror genres. This was done in Sleepaway Camp (1983). It took the enjoyable idea for a holiday in a cabin in the woods and made it into a nightmare. It was considered one of the most shocking ending's in horror's history. This seemed like the ideal idea as most people tend to be scared of the unknown so the wood's would be a perfect location.

As we did our research into thrillers are recognised that the majority of the horror happens at night time. We looked into some films and we noticed in Paranormal Activity, most of the paranormal stuff happened when it was dark or when nobody else was around.

As a group we decided that we would go for the conventional thriller time and try and film at time time as it seemed to be 'the time' when something bad was more likely to happen. However, due to the time of year we were filming in it became obvious that it was going to be hard for us to film in the dark as we were unable to see anything clearly on the camera equipment so this resulted in us improvising. We decided that the second best thing would be to putout film into black and white, this way it gives the film a sense of mystery.

Our thriller, which was a horror thriller also contained a sub-genre of a psychological thriller, this is because we based out thriller in a bleak setting in a black and white effect which would leave the audience feeling trapped and anxious all through out the film. Furthermore, we used the stereotypical 'figure' usually found in horror films however not frequently to give the impression that is something in the mind and not reality.

In some ways, we also followed the Narrative Theory because we had your typical villain and princess however in our case there was no hero.

Also, our thriller opening was not typical as it does not start with an 'equilibrium', instead we began at the 'rise of action' part meaning it doesn't naturally fit with Tzvetan Todorov's Theory. Additionally, it does not end at the 'new equilibrium instead we ended at the 'climax'.

We used an action code the majority of the way through our film - we did this by not using much dialogue. We did this on purpose as we thought it would add more tension to the film by letting the audience guess what was happening rather than just being told. Furthermore, we also used semic codes on the park. We did this by showing the spookiness off the playground by having the swings moving when Tahlia arrives showing the audience that something is not quite right.
