Kaunas is a city where history and modern life meet.
Kaunas Old Town is the oldest part of Kaunas. People have lived here for a very long time, markets, festivals and meetings have taken place.
One of the most beautiful buildings in Kaunas is located in the Old Town – Kaunas Town Hall.
It is called the “white swan” because it is white, tall and very elegant.
The Town Hall was built so that the city would have its own important place:
the city government worked here, city affairs were decided, and celebrations took place.
Today, the Town Hall:
• holds exhibitions,
• organizes festivals,
• often takes pictures of newlyweds.
Town Hall Square is a place where:
• people meet,
• holds events,
• plays music during holidays.

Safranbolu, with its unspoiled historical fabric and houses, takes visitors on a journey through history. One of Turkey's first sites to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, Safranbolu has been on this list since 1994. The highest quality saffron, one of the world's most expensive spices and the namesake of the settlement, is grown in Safranbolu. The Safranbolu houses, formed over hundreds of years, are important assets that contribute to the continuation of Turkish urban culture today. The highest quality saffron flowers are ultimately grown in Safranbolu. Saffron, which requires great effort to cultivate and care for, has been documented to have the potential to color a hundred thousand times its own weight in liquid yellow. Also used in the pharmaceutical, food, and cosmetic industries, saffron is one of the world's most expensive spices. Safranbolu is also renowned for its Turkish delight, one of the most important delicacies of Turkish culinary culture. Its lighter texture compared to other Turkish delights, and the use of mineral-rich natural Safranbolu waters in its production, have contributed to its fame.
