My Opinion: I used to love this series when I was a child so I rented one of the new ones (from 2020) to see if they are still the same. I was pleasantly surprised and I think that they are amazing books for kids to read. They introduce readers to different cultures and events in history, facts about animals, maps of different countries, and much more but also in a fun and engaging story that keeps children entertained but also learning at the same time!

Literary Elements: This book is about twin brothers who are basketball stars and they both want to be professional basketball players one day. Their dad was a famous basketball player when he was younger but he had to quit due to an illness. The family has some drama because one of the boys fall for a girl and his brother gets mad at him because he is getting distracted from basketball and then sadly, the dad ends up passing away at the end.
My Opinion: This book honestly gave me chills at the end. I think that it is an absolutely amazing book with a huge message behind it. At first I just thought it was going to be a sort of boring basketball book, but it really shows a reality with family problems, relationships, losing a loved one, etc. I think children should most definitely read this, but it is more for older children since there aren't any pictures included.

My Opinion: I think this is a great book to have children read because it shows the harsh realities of slave's lives from history which is very important for students to be informed about in some way. However, it has great pictures and lightens up the topic by showing their celebrations at the square in New Orleans. I would recommend this!

My Opinion: I liked this book because it included some Spanish vocabulary. It would be a great book to include in the classroom because there is a little bit about a different culture/language which some students could relate to. I think the pictures were super helpful and easy to follow along as well. I also actually even learned what a Mexican Jumping bean really was, which I found super interesting.

My Opinion: I think that this book is absolutely adorable. It shows how we can expand our world with inclusivity and kindness even if it feels awkward at first or uncomfortable. I think that this is a topic that is super important for kids to read about because they should know from a young age to be inclusive and kind to all people no matter who they are or where they came from.
