Batista was the dictator in charge of Cuba. Batista eventually lost the election in 1952. He put together a military coup backed by the U.S. Fidel Castro, Che Guevara and other revolutionaries we done with the authoritarianism and overthrew the government in 1959. Castro became president and he has changed Cubas entire political system since then.

The overall change in healthcare and education proved that the Cuban Revolution was a revolution. Castro made universal healthcare. Before that the life span was much shorter especially in rural areas. Castro also nationalized education causing Cuba to have the highest literacy rate in all of central America. Overall the revolution changed everything for the daily life of Cubans.

The overall change in politics prove that the Cuban revolution was a revolution. Batista was a authoritarian dictator. He would only do anything political if he was payed. The U.S. backed him because he made sure the U.S. got its capitalism and resources. When Castro was incharge he made sure it was not authoritarian or a dictatorship. Castro also was also not paid out. Overall Castro totally changed the way government functioned in Cuba and it still functions that way today.

The overall change in foreign policy proves that the Cuban revolution was a revolution. Originally Cuba was imperialised by Spain, then the U.S. than the revolution happened and Cuba allied itself with the Soviet Union. During the Cold war cuba was not on side with the U.S. Batista would have been forced to be on the U.S. side because of their ties to each other. Castro changed foreign policy in and toward Cuba forever.

The overall change in healthcare and education, politics and foreign policy prove that the Cuban Revolution was a revolution. Health care and education is now very different than it was under the Batista regime there was no government coverage at all. Police changed overall authoritarianism and dictatorship to a democracy with elections and checks and balances. Foreign policy changed overall, Cuba is not imperialised and it has power over its own foreign policy it does not have to do what the U.S. wants. President Obama was the first president in years to create positive U.S. Cuban relations. Cuba has a new president of a few weeks ago. That president was elected by the people. Cuba has changed since the Batista regime for the better.
