Dikembe was one of 12 sons and daughters of Samuel and Biamba Mutombo. Dikembe is very bilingual and speaks many languages such as English, French, Spanish, Portugese, and 5 central African varieties. He moved to the U.S. in 1987 when he was 21 to go to college.
