This video essay doesn't just talk about the good use of visual comedy but also talks about the bad use in other films. This helps to give a better understanding of why Edgar Wrights uses visual comedy better. An example of this would be they way Edgar Wright directs someone who doesn't want to drink, he uses quick snappy shots of pints of beer being poured and then a slow shot of a glass of water being poured. Compared this to a different film where Will Ferrell just says my wife told me not to drink which to some people could be funny but the camera doesn't move and the only comedy is coming from the actor.

Being broken down into 5 different categories, the video overall is clear, concise and well structured. The information is relevant to the examples being used, detailed research was clearly conducted in order to create as an informative film analysis as possible.

i think this video essay is detailed with lots of examples to back up her ideas. This is a good way to get to know a deeper meaning of all the characters and why they act the way they do. for example this essay takes us through each character and shows us other people in different tv shows/films, as we see the secret intelligence Frank Gallagher has and what would of happened if he didn't become addicted. We see the different addictions they all hold and how this affects them in their lives. We can see comparisons of other characters they may portray.

This video essay is about the difference in Hermione's character, from the book to the film. It has plenty of examples and the way it is edited is well paced and works well with what she's talking about. However, when her voice over comes up its very silent and serious. you can hear the imperfections in the audio recording because of it, like it sounds eco-ie, which means she recorded it in an open room, if it had some background music it would be more entertaining and you would hear the eco as much. This is a very factual video essay, not very entertaining, which means because its so serious it will get the point across but it wont be memorable

The visual style of this video was pleasing and it was clear to understand.

This music in the background is smooth, with a constant same beat, so it doesn't feel at odd, the sound blends together so everytime a scene changes it doesn't feel like I'm hearing the cut.

The narrator of this video does an incredible job of breaking down characters emotions and mannerisms, whilst also maintaining a reasonable pace to the essay. He uses imagery correctly and the clips on screen are relevant to the topics he is discussing during that segment of the video. He also manages to discuss how the characters effect the environment they are in and how the first season of Stranger Things did a good job of introducing these characters and the traits that separate them and make them unique from one another.

This video essay talks about the problem with the poor quality of video essays compared to small amount of good quality ones. They make good examples but the video is mostly him talking to the camera, but playing videos for points he makes to back them up. One of the points he makes is where people are making these video essays but they are not factual and do not teach you anything compared to the better quality ones that have a defined point and explain it with terms that are easy to understand in a form that is easy to follow.

This video essay goes in-depth, and shows us why Superhero genre needs to rest, and to move on. The use of clips to give example was well formatted, and the information was very easy to understand. The visual style was simple and so it was relaxing to watch.

The music used in the background was calming and smooth, and it just blended in with the audio of him speaking and the audio of the clips.

This video essay is clear and concise with it’s points, and is very informative about Grindhouse films. The creator clearly knows a lot about the films he’s covering, and that makes the video more interesting to watch. The commentary is also good, and the essay shows relevant clips to back up his points.

This is a well explained and polished video, talking about how "Get Out" takes existing and very well known horror tropes and cliches and subverts. It tells them in new ways and in clever ways as well. The voice over uses lots of clip examples that are easy to digest. Direct quotes from the filmmaker are used a lot to very good effect, the filmmaker must have given a lot about the process of making the film, because this videos points are easily backed up straight from the horses mouth. The content is nicely talked about both throughout and in more specific section breakdowns. like, the subtleness of the approach used to show something not being quite right with the situation and the growing untrustworthiness of the family.

This video explores the idea of romcoms, I found this video a bit dry compared to the other video. I would agree with the point that they are a dying films and directors need to start to push new boundaries
