But when the day is over, it is those students who were not able to come...and so I've recruited parent volunteers to do deliveries to our students furthest from educational justice. I have taught myself Bitmoji Library creating, Screencastify, Zoom, Padlet, etc. and are using these to reach out to staff and students. I Zoom with 17 classes through out the week for Library time. I have rounded up textbooks - cleaned them, labeled them with student names and checked them out for curbside pick up. I'm new to a coastal PNW town, and I've been going "live onsite" / creating local Virtual Field Trips each week! We visit a new organization/business, and also do a read aloud. We've read from the Humane Society Catio and Kitten Nursery, horse stables, a rhododendron nursery, a mineral + jewelry shop, and next week = Oregon State Parks! I travel with a device + wifi hotspot (wifi is our biggest challenge in coastal natural areas). It's been a BLAST!
VFT: The local trips have been great (we're researching each site, building a Destiny Collection of books and resources/linked to our Google Classroom). We're linking our community to our school district. It's totally highlighting all of our library standard areas: Reading Advocacy + Info Literacy + DigiCit + Tech Integration. End goal this year: a VFT out at sea with Carrie Newel, local whale whisperer and marine biologist, who has identified/named most of our resident grey whales! She takes research tours out in Zodiac boats and gets up close and personal to our whale friends!

I do synchronous story times each week. I have books that I read to certain grade levels every year, and I notice many teachers really connect to the familiarity of "I love this book, Mrs. Taylor!" and I think it gives them cortisol-release to half-listen to a familiar story while I read. I didn't realize how important that was until this week. The teachers really look forward to me coming, so any thoughts I had of doing recordings for asynchronous story times are GONE. This is something I can do to SHIELD my colleagues, and it definitely creates relationships with the students. I'm amazed at how connected the students are to me.

I've made a couple of collections in Sora since most students don't really know how to perform an advanced search. It gets students to "the good stuff" faster. It's great for themed collections, whether genres or specific collections for teachers. I'll be adding more collections.

Putting instructional videos and resources by topic into a Canva infographic for teachers and students . . how to be a better Google Searcher, APA/MLA citations and how to format correctly; our databases overview, how to find and checkout/use our eBook system, etc. All are housed in our Library Schoology Course which all students are members of and teachers have joined so they all have access to the resources. Our LMS is Canvas, and I create complete modules with videos, online database links, step sheets, etc. for particular units and send the full module ready for drop-in into the teacher's course. My one good thing with students has been live virtual classes: reading a story every time (K-4)...especially silly, fun stories. My one good thing with teachers has been curating choice boards with mini lessons and ebooks that connect directly to the Social Studies and Science standards in their curriculums.
