Before finding Joe, tom and his love interest becky, find themselves lost in the cave. They momentarily stumble upon Joe's lair, however he isn't present. Later on, Tom once again sneaks back to Injun Joe's sanctuary, and takes a back of twelve thousand dollars, who he splits half of with Huck Finn. The entire story perfectly embodies the spirit of adventure, and liberation. This is demonstrated through the various experiences Tom has, but there is one key event that proves Tom desires such exploits. When Tom acquires Injun Joe's money, he grows bored of it; money did not make him happy the way adventure did.
