I believe that this book was based 10 years ago because there was none of today’s technology. I also assume this because of the characters clothing. The 2 settings in this book are a town that has been through a bad storm and the library. Morris spends most of his time in the library because he moves there for a while. These are the time and setting of the book.

The theme of the story is to treat others the way you want to be treated. I know this because Morris cares for the books and later in life the books start to care for Morris. I also know this because Morris is kind to the townspeople and gives them books and they are kind back. A final reason I know this is because Morris is nice and leaves his book of life for the little girl who comes to the library next.

I know this because in the book the friends get into a quarrel about running for class president but they forgave each other. The friends also got into a fight at the party they threw after their friend (Luke)won class president and they went their separate ways but they all forgave each other. I also know this because one of the girls (Jessica) got into a fight with her father after she met him again but them she forgave him because he still loved her.

I did not enjoy the part when Peter dies because I think that he should have made it across. My favorite part in the story is when Officer Müller sacrifices himself to save Gretal. I think people who love history and war books would enjoy this read. I would give this book a five out of five stars for its lovable characters and great escape plan.

The theme of the story is to be brave and fight for what’s right. I know because their neighbor Herr Krause got hurt and eventually killed trying to fight for what’s right. Another place in the story where the theme is proven in the story is when Gretal and Fritz know that digging a tunnel to escape to their father and brother in the West is illegal and could get them killed but they fight for their freedom. The last place I saw the theme in the story is when Peters life is taken because he tried to escape. These are the places in the book that I saw the theme.

The theme of the story is to always be yourself and that it’s ok to speak up for yourself and others and that every thing happens for a reason. I know because Virgil is shy and gets bullied by Chet a lot but by the end of the book he learns to speak up for himself. I also know because even Valencia sometimes gets bullied or picked on by Chet because of her hearing aids but she is not afraid to speak up for herself. I know that every thing happens for a reason because fate brought Valencia and Kaori together so that they could finally find Virgil. These are some themes that I took away from the story.

Her dad meets a lot of people without knowing they were his “dates” and finally her dad tells Frankie that he has been secretly dating her Kindergarten teacher/her moms old friend. Frankie is not so sure about this but in the end everything works out.

I would give this book a four out of five stars for its great ending and unexpected plot twists.

Each character has something going on in their life and they go the retirement center for the program and make friends with the residents. The residents listen to their problems and help them. In the end all of the main characters are friends. “ Destiny had brought us together” (Buyea 342).They have also solved all of their problems and made their relationships tighter with them and their families.

I give this book a four out of five stars for its great characters and different point of views. My favorite part of the book was the end when Scott made a touchdown at the end of the book and everyone cheered for him. “Every kid playing, weather on his team or not, clamored and jumped around, slapping him on the back”( Buyea 343). My least favorite part about the book was how Gavin hated Natile because of something she had nothing to do with. People who love action and friendship would enjoy this book. I loved this book and recommend it to everyone!

There are lots of places that the characters go to in the book. The three main places that the characters go to are the school, retirement home, and the art room because that is where the characters see each other. The art room has paintings hanging all around. “It was a lovely space with beautiful paintings hanging everywhere, yet despite the inviting atmosphere...” (Buyea 85). In the retirement home each elder has their own room. There are many different settings in this book and each has its own special qualities.

Then we have a flashback of Wyatt and his brother joking around about falling in the water while listening to Brody, the guide’s, instructions. Johnny, Wyatt’s brother, says,” Wouldn’t it be awesome to fall in” (Robie 2). After this, the whole group heads out to the river. While they were out they help another raft get free from a rock. This causes them to go into difficult rapids and Wyatt falls off. Wyatt remembers Brody’s instructions and is able to swim to safety.

My favorite part was when Wyatt got saved and pulled into another raft. “Then he saw something even more promising: the raft they’d freed earlier was pulled alongside the riverbank” (Robie 2). My least favorite part of the story is when Wyatt and his brother joke around during the instructions. I think people who love adventure should really enjoy reading this book. I give this book a four out of five starts for its good lesson learned.

“Wyatt was thrown backward into the water” (Robie 1). After Wyatt was thrown in the water he soon noticed that his brother had fallen in as well. They both floated in different directions and his group of rafters had to decide who to save and who to leave because there was no saving both of them in time. Before anyone could speak the boat hit a rock and everyone fell out. They all quickly traveled down the stream and Johnny was getting to close to the rocks and Wyatt’s dad swims to save him but in the process he hits a rock and sadly dies. Everyone else made it up stream safely and got pulled onto shore. Wyatt’s family goes to the river every year now and has a picnic by the stream in honor of their brave dad.

On Ravi’s first day he gets the wrong idea and thinks that the boy who is bullying Joe is a nice person and wants to be his friend and he thinks that Joe himself is a bully. Ravi soon figures out that school is very different here than in India and Joe’s dad, a truck driver who is always away, comes home and tells Joe to be a man and fight the bully but Joe doesn’t want any part of it. Joe’s dad says while they are arguing,” The point is you have to man up and fight back” (Weeks 140). Ravi soon figures out that the bully, Dillion, does not want to be his friend as much as he thought. In the end Ravi and Joe help out each other and become each other’s friends and stand up to Dillion together.

At school the next day I receive a telegram from the army which is very odd because the telegrams are always delivered straight to the house, especially when it’s from the army. The letter read, “Dear Margaret, I just want to let you know that I am ok. I was taken prisoner by Hitlers troop 51. I am back at base camp now and they have decided that I am to be sent home soon. See you, and Mother’s big dinners, very soon. -Jimmy. I know that the house had two windows because the text states, “ It had two windows with real glass in them....” (Hahn 25). There is a crooked chimney also poking out of the hut’s roof. The two pieces of furniture that were most mentioned was a small stove that was lit to try and keep Stuart warm when he was sick and a cot in which Stu slept on, covered in blankets. This was one of the main settings that was described the best.

I loved reading this book! It was worth it and I could not put it down! My favorite part was when Jairo and Pattie take in Willow and “adopt” her. One of the lines that supports my favorite part was when the judge says, “ There has been a formal request made today to the court for your guardianship. In motion by Mr. Jairo Hernandez and Ms. Dung Nguyen-“ (Sloan 370). My least favorite part was how Willow never found out the reason that her parents were in the car when the crash happened. I give this book a five out of five stars for its amazing different point of views. People who love adventure and a little bit of sadness would enjoy reading this book.

One of the settings that was most described was Willow’s bedroom in her original house. In her room all of the walls have floor to ceiling bookshelves. I know this because in Mai’s description she said, “All the walls had floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and they were full” (Solan 112). Willows room also had a desk with a microscope and a computer system. The room also has a bulliton board covered with photos of plants. This is how Willow’s room was described in the book.

Dash describes in the book that there is a science pod, bathrooms, mess hall, rec room, control room, greenhouse, gymnasium, medical bay, and more. Moon base Alpha is continuously described as cramped and claustrophobic. Each room is described to have an Inflatacube which is a inflating chair.” Both of us were seated on the InflatiCubes we had had to use at MBA instead of chairs” (Gibbs 61). Moon base Alpha has a very interesting setting.

We see the poacher shoot his gun at an approaching bear. Now I get it my father is the bait along with a long dead deer. The bear moves closer and closer. I needed to think of something to do but my mind was blank. Then my dads body starts to wriggle and like that he is free from the ropes. The poacher jumps down from the tree and starts to chase my father but this only makes the bear chase after the poacher. Once my father is safe with us we get out of there as fast as we can. I hope the poacher knows how to lose a bear.

I the book Short Julia Marks Mom makes her try out for a musical, the Wizard of Oz. “Only maybe they can, because yesterday my mom said she wants me to go audition at the university to be in some kind of play” ( Sloan 10). She gets the role of a munchkin and later also a flying monkey and meets some pretty amazing people. In the process of making a play she also meets some new friends like Olive who is a small adult who also plays a munchkin and Julia’s role model. Olive and so many other people teach Julia it’s ok to be short. When the musical ends everyone heads different ways, even different states, but friendship will always connect them.

Julia Marks is brave, friendly, but most of all misses her dog Ramon. I know Julia is brave because she is not nervous at her audition. “ I can’t help it-I laugh. And then I take a small bow directed to the piano” ( Sloan 17). I know Julia is friendly because she wants to meet Olive the first day of auditions. “I decide I really love her look. I’m going to get to know her .......” (Sloan 24). I know Julia misses her dog Ramon because she thinks about him a lot thorough out the book. “ I could barley listen because her song reminded me of losing Ramon, so I put my fingers in my ears” (Sloan 16). Julia Marks is a very interesting person.

My least favorite part was how the book ended with a cliff hanger. “This. Is. It. And then....BOOM!” ( Reynolds 180). People who love adventure and an exiting story line would love this book. I give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars for its amazing characters and great story. I definitely recommend this book series.

You will not be running today as a punishment for stealing those shoes coach said flat out in frount of everyone. I could feel everyone’s eyes stare down at my silver bullets. I had a good reason, well, I thought that I did. Then coach started talking about the 100 meter run and everyone looked away, but I couldn’t focus. I wouldn’t be running and everyone knows my second biggest secret. Great. I just hope Ma doesn’t find out because it would just make her more disappointed in me.

Ghost was always getting into stupid fights for no reason and one day he was at the bus stop and found himself watching a track practice. He eventually joined the team as long as he kept up with school. Ghost made some new friends and even told his biggest secret to them. Ghost only got better and in the end was going to be in his first race. “We stepped out on the track and walked down to the end” (Reynolds 177). The end of the book left you on a cliff hanger.

My least favorite part is when the characters find out that Jonathan’s plane blew up over the English Channel. ““His plane blew up over the English Channel,” Susan said. “They won’t recover his body”” (Bradley 243). I give this book five out of five stars for its AMAZING plot and characters. People who enjoy adventure and learning about the hardships of world war 2 would enjoy this book. I belive this was a good read.

“He drew an envelope out of his waistcoat pocket and took from the envelope a letter” (Bradley 301). Lord Thornton read the extremely long letter which held many words I found not understand, including facts about the war. I really wasn’t because at the end I didn’t know why everyone was crying, even Maggie. “Jonathan’s coming home!” Lady Thornton exclaimed. “Wait I thought his plane blew up!?” I said in shock, clearly I was not listening at all. Susan explained to me that the letter said that Jonathan’s plane crash landed in the enemy line and he was taken prisoner, but a few weeks later our troops overthrew the camp that was keeping his captive and he is now on his way home. This is by far the best Christmas gift I could have asked for.

Ada, Jamie, Maggie (who sometimes visits from her boarding school), and Susan all grow to like Ruth and have many adventures with her. It does get a little cramped after Susan’s house was bombed and they were forced to move in the Thornton’s extra cottage where Lady Thornton was also staying because the army had taken possession of the Thornton house. The War progresses and everyone is shocked to find out that the Thornton’s son, and Maggie’s brother, had died in war. Susan then becomes ill after the holidays but soon gets better and lots of relationships are healed and the story has a happy ending.
