2nd Half of School Day Success

The 2nd half of the school day shows more success than the first half of the day. Many students are up late at night and not fully awake.

Re-engagement = Going great when I'm having students look at the problem the second time, but this time create their own problems.

Word Problems are Challenging!

The students struggled with word problems. This shows that their math literacy needs more growth. Working on doing more vocabulary and sentence starters to help students explain answers.

I need to be prepared with sentence stems. Encouraging multiple approaches to look at the problem is a way to get them to talk more.

The math talks are going well and students almost always have an answer to provide. Students understand it's ok to be wrong and we can learn from our mistakes.

Doing a mini-gallery walk with the work that they have done allows them to revisit their work and an opportunity for a redo.

It was great to see students applying what they have learned to a new context in their attempt to solve a problem.
