Andrew amazed me in a lot of ways and it was almost intimidating to be teaching such a brilliant student. He had strengths in many areas, but from looking at all his work I would say I learned that Andrew just LOVED to write and discuss his knowledge. I would give directions and he would run with it, beyond what I even expected. Because he was loaded with ideas and knowledge and wanted to share it all in any way, he lost a little focus in his detail in handwriting and grammar, but it was just because he had so much to say! I loved just listening to him and asking him questions, that I wish I recorded every session I had with him. If I asked Andrew to focus and pay attention to something in particular like his writing and not skipping words because he was just too excited to get all he had retained out onto paper, he would do it.

I did not have work with Gyanita after this FOLIA on writing, or reading and although Gyanita did not mention any specific books she liked to read (after we asked), she mentioned that when she did read, she enjoyed reading in quiet areas. As a group, we made sure Gyanita, and the other students who emphasized how much they valued silence during their reading, had a place farther away from the main group when it came to reading and writing time.

Based off of what was said and drawn during Gyanita's FOLIA, I know that she does not enjoy libraries or any other reading environment, except for her room. She said her room was the most comfortable and quiet place for her to read, So, because of this I know that Gyanita does not like distractions and probably does not enjoy reading in class unless it's silent reading. Gyanita also drew a bookshelf, but when asked what she liked to read specifically, she didn't know. From this I think Gyanita likes to read, but does not have a clear preference yet. She has a bookshelf in her room full of books, she said, so therefore she has to enjoy books in some sense. Gyanita also said she enjoys taking her parent's
Ipad and sneaking to her closet to read on it so no one will bother her. From this I can see that Gyanita probably enjoys reading on the iPad more than anything and it's probably because it is more interactive for her.

Andrew's strengths were how creative and in depth he thought about his work. As you can see from this semantic map, he took the idea of 'stemming off one idea' to another level. He was a joy to work with because he always kept me on my toes with what he wanted to write about that day. In the semantic map you can see he wrote about his sister, who he loves dearly, and later he used some of this information for his narrative.

Yantony grew more than any of my other student's I worked with. He not only became more and more interested in his writing, but he was less distracted, more focused and motivated.
