The American Economic Review: An article by Benjamin Hansen on the impacts of stricter sentences on the frequency of repeat drunk drivers.

One thing that can be done is creating harsher sentences for drunk drivers and for repeat offenders, and the people that can act on this are elected officials.

The main stakeholder in this area of discussion are anyone with a driver's license and a car. Having people who drink and drive in prison or restricted from driving for longer will make roads safer for these people.

One constraint regarding this problem is the fact that not having a driver's license will not automatically stop someone from being able to drive a car. An affordance for this situation is the fact that people want to be safer on the roads, and thus will support legislature tightening restrictions on drunk drivers.

Journal of Promotion Management: An article by Alan Shaw on how social media can be used to promote sober driving. This teaches me about different methods to spread the word of sober driving.

Anyone with social media can do something about this problem, as convincing even one person to not drive intoxicated would be a success. The stakeholders in this are the people of social media, the government agencies with social media accounts, and impaired drivers. One constraint associated with this is that not every drunk driver is going to be on social media to see this. One affordance is the fact that seeing your friends tell you to stay sober while driving is more likely to reach you than reading a piece by someone random.

Someone who can do something about this issue is the government. They can offer assistance for paying for ride sharing programs to help people who can't afford it get home safely. A stakeholder would be the government, as well as taxpayers and ride-share drivers. A constraint is people might not want their taxes to go towards this, and an affordance is that if the government can prove that socioeconomic factors increase drunk driving, then people might not have a choice.

The stakeholders in this problem are people who don't drink and drive, as well as people that drink and drive. One constraint about this is that people that drink and drive see nothing wrong with it, and an affordance is that people who don't drink and drive support ending it.

The New York district attorney can do something about this, and the thing he could do is keep people like this in prison for longer. The stakeholder in this issue is all the drivers in New York, as there is now a convicted drunk driver back on the streets. A constraint is how long the maximum sentence is, and an affordance is public support in making the sentence longer.

The judge hearing this woman's parole case can refuse to grant it. The stakeholders are the victims family, as well as other drivers on the roadway in Utah, where this incident occurred. One constraint in this case is the fact that the people are already gone, making their account of what happened unknowable. One affordance is that public support is behind keeping this woman behind bars.
