The practices of the electrical and electronic department in the labs produce lots of electronic waste and there isn’t a centralized and visible container for the proper disposal.

When electronic waste is left into the wrong places, it not only affects the learning spaces, but it also is a threat to the health and safety of the people.

To solve the problem of e-waste accumulation in the working areas we could build special containers in these areas. These containers should have labels that the students can easily understand and they also be accesible and conveniently located in the labs.

Situation: During rainy seasons in Bogotá, students face difficulties moving between buildings due to the lack of connectivity between them and the absence of rain protection in outdoor areas.

Problem: Students get wet because of the rain when they have to move between university buildings during heavy rain seasons.

Solution: Provide containers with umbrellas inside of them at the exit of every building of the university so students can protect themselves from the rain while moving from one building to another. These umbrellas will be large so they be used by multiple students at the same time, facilitating movement and preventing them from getting wet during heavy rains.

Evaluation: I think that by implementing containers with umbrellas at building exits students gain improved mobility and protection from heavy rain and can make them feel more comfortable during the day as they don´t get wet neither sick

Situation:

In Boyaca, Colombia the acces to water for many farmers is very difficult, some towns do not have aqueduct systems to bring potable water for people. The farmers in these region take contaminated water from rivers, as a ilegal way to get water for their crops, but is their only water resource.

Problem: The farmers in some regions of Boyaca are forced to take contaminated water from rivers, as their only chance to get water for their needs.

Solution: Using the geoelectrict methods to do undergrownd water prospection, is posible to search for aquifers in this region. This remote method is faster to implement and does not affect the ecosystem. This can be a solution if there is usable under grownd water resources for the farmers to take advantage of them.

Evaluation: The proposed solution will show the farmers community new usable water resources, showing them some alternatives for their water necessity, the decision if they want to take advantage from the aquifers depend on them. However, by letting them know that there is potable water to use in their region can help many farmers.

Situation

Los Andes University has a big sports center and it has a great variety of services from chess boards and videogames to treadmills and strength gym. It is important to say that there are different types of gyms, cardiovascular, where you can find the treadmills, the strength one with bars, plates and dumbbells, one with a lot of machines only. A great majority of students and workers use this services and they agree that this is a good service from the university that promotes mental and physical health.

Problem

There are some hours when the strength gyms are too crowded while some other spaces such as the cardiovascular gym, or the spinning room are completely alone or with only one person. It is a problem since it is difficult to train in such a crowded place and there isn't enough material for everyone in that room. Additionally, some people that use strength gyms only use the dumbbells, which can be used in other spaces without machines.

Solution

Since the spinning center is alone and it is a huge space, it can be used as a second streng gym with only dumbbells. That will be destínate to students who don't use the machines of the strength gym. That will help to reduce the amount of people in those gyms on rush hours. Additionally, in order to not leave aside students who use the spinning bikes, this space could be divided since it is really big. Finally, there is necessary to carry on campaign that informer student on the change and to recommend to use the auxiliar gym if they are only going to use dumbbells

Both require low budget materials, which allow an effective use of time during the organization.

situation: the excessive need for professionalism and the need to have everything under control affects the creative process of artists and makes it difficult to explore new ways of making art

problem: many artists fall into the error of wanting to be excessive planners in addition to being obsessed with professionalism, this makes many end up imitating certain processes of institutions where bureaucracy and constant control of cultural management predominates.

solution:

a decentralized organizational approach should be promoted that seeks to break away from rigid organizational structures, giving way to prioritizing organic and emergent processes

.Promote self-organization with a critical approach: it is important to continuously question and consider its implications and limitations rather than accepting it as a universal solution.

adopt the concept of “disorganization”, suggesting projects that aim to break with the traditional organizational structure. This may include improvisational methods, spontaneous collective decisions and rejection of excessive planning.

evaluation: these types of solutions are designed to be self managed by the artist and the self organized cultural groups, without the external supervision or help by the institutes and public or private cultural institutions. however this type of problem in the cultural/art world are not a essential or basic need, but is a way to progressive change of the pre-established rules.

Situation: Nowadays, time management has become an increasing challenge not only for young students but also for people of all ages and professions. Despite access to a wide variety of organizational tools, the reality is that our schedules are becoming increasingly saturated.

Problem: The problem lies in the overload of daily tasks and the constant demand for attention, which have led to an inefficient distribution of time. Activities such as excessive social media use, time lost in traffic, and the pressure to maintain a level of hyperproductivity contribute to people feeling like their days slip away without achieving a proper work-life balance.

Solution:

The proposed solution is an app specifically designed for students to organize their schedules, track assignments, and set reminders. Unlike general productivity apps, this one focuses on academic needs, offering features like class schedules and assignment tracking. To enhance its effectiveness, the app also incorporates strategies that promote better time management. By helping students prioritize tasks, limit social media usage, and create more flexible routines, the app aims to improve overall efficiency, allowing users to dedicate more time to meaningful activities.

Evaluation

My solution, a student-focused app for managing schedules and assignments, is the best option because it directly targets academic needs, unlike generic productivity tools. It offers key advantages like improved time management and a healthier work-life balance by limiting distractions. However, its effectiveness depends on user engagement. As time management challenges persist, the app could evolve with AI-driven features to further enhance productivity.

Context: At the university, the students often don’t have the opportunity to find good tutors who are available when they need the tutors, especially during exam periods or in important weeks. Some students have a bad experience connecting with tutors who really know the subject, while others, in parallel, who are good at tutoring, can’t find students to help. This generates an inefficiency in the tutoring market, missing opportunities on both sides.

Problem: The principal problem is that there isn’t an effective platform or app that connects students with tutors in a way that works well. The current options or alternative are incomplete or don’t function efficiently; additionally, during critical times like exams, the university doesn’t offer enough spaces or flexible hours for tutoring or learning spaces, leaving many students without the help they need.

Solution: The solution is to create an innovative platform (or app) that serves as a highly efficient connection point between students and tutors. This platform will not only make it easier for students to find the best tutor when they need, also provide a system that benefits both parties. The key features of this platform include many innovative components like:

Build big and specific areas for tutoring available all day during exams, with tech to track usage and payments.

Use AI to match students with the best tutor based on their needs and availability.

Allow students to request tutoring on the spot, with options for group sessions if multiple students have similar questions.

Implement a secure, transparent system for ratings and feedback to build trust and reputation.

Offer rewards and recognition for both tutors and students, tied to university benefits.

Evaluation: To see if it’s the solution is a good solution, we will know the number of users, their satisfaction, and how well the system matches students with tutors. Also, monitor how much tutors are earning and whether the study spaces are being used effectively. Adjust based on feedback and data to keep improving.
