The apostrophe in this soliloquy is the dagger on lines 1 - 2 “Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee.” This apostrophe changes as the soliloquy goes on, as we see that this dagger has blood all over it, which is foreshadowing Macbeth’s resolve as well as the likely death of the King.

The use of apostrophe within the soliloquy is the manifestation of a dagger with blood on it even though there was nothing as such within his current realm. It is used to show Macbeth’s internal conflict and his final thoughts before deciding to kill Duncan.

In Macbeths soliloquy in Act 2 scene 1, an example of an apostrophe is Macbeth imagining a bloody dagger. Reassuring Macbeths ability to kill Duncan cold heartedly. Macbeths vision of the dagger shows how he is hallucinating and filled with anxiety and stress. - Sergio, Tyler

The usage of an apostraphe helps the audience understand Macbeth's current state of mind. This is demonstrated in lines 33-34, when Macbeth "Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand?" This is an example of an apostrophe, as it displays the way that Macbeth is hallucinating, as he readies himself to kill the king.

(Act 2.1 lines 1-2). The apostrophe changes throughout Act 2.1, because of the blood seen all over the dagger, which is showing Macbeth will most likely kill Duncan with the dagger. -leon
