I do think that the summer of 1963 shaped Kenny, Byron, and Joetta Watson. In chapter 15, Kenny relized that he was worrying his parents when he left and did not come back for a while. He started noticing when he overheard his parents talking. They were not worried about Joey or Byron. They were worried about Kenny. What if they knew about Kenny almost dying in the wool pooh? What if they knew that Byron kissed him? What if they knew that Kenny tresspassed, along with By and Joey?!?! What if they thought they lost two of there kids? Joetta and Kenny. From a bomb and drowning. That would be a very harsh thing to life the rest of your life knowing! Have you ever imagined your sister just dying out of no where? And your brother drowning to death? They loved you to death! He was innocent. You loved him. Completley. Then your little sister followed some dude back home from her church. It was a good thing because if she did not, she would be dead. (No hard feelings) But that kid looked like Kenny. And saved his little sisters life by running away! Imagine seeing yoursister getting blown up into 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 peices right before your eyes can blink. How would you feel? And tugging on a dead girls little size 3 black dress shoes. He still can'r help but wonder "Are those girls alive? Are they dead? Who are they?" Those thoughts flooded Kenny's mind. And they probaly still do. A 10 year old boy, picking up a dead little girls leg? Taking the shoe off her foot? That would make me barf. Just thinking about it. I WAS NOT EVEN THERE!!! The world does not need to be at risk with these terrorists. Yet, at least 1,000,000 people have. Byron will always be blamed. He is the oldest. And if Joey tells mom and dad what is really going on, they will never trust Kenny or Byron again! This makes Kenny feel worried about his mom and dad, so for now on he will tell where he is going, or where he has gone. This will help Kenny stop getting his parents so hyped up. They might as well put a ankle braclet detecter thing on him... Or just lock him up in the basement with water bottles and bread?!? No, don't do that!!! That is only if you have 2 sons trading personalitys. Just like Kenny and Byron Watson. And also a little sister named Joetta Watson. That family. That family right there. Has been through a lot, a lot, a lot, and a lot. Too much to talk about. Stuff they don't need to know until they are older. For gosh sake they pooped outside, rather than an outhouse. That is ridiculous. But it makes sence. I wish I was alive back then to help everybody. Look at all of these terrorist. Like ISIS. They bomb everything. But if I were in that church id be LONG GONE!

I do think this terrible experience will forever change Kenny and his view on the world. In chapter 15, it talks about Kenny hiding from his family by hiding behind the couch. In this chapter he also asks himself why somebody would do this. He now understands that the world is not just fun and games, but also scary and depressing.

I positively think that the summer of 1963 shaped Byron and Kenny.
Kenny was effected, and will be affected by the summer of 1963 because he thought he saw his sister dead. He thought that she was gone, and he would never ever see her again. That is a threatening experience for a little boy like Kenny. Kenny now knows how cruel people are how how we can't always save people. Joetta could have been dead, and she was saved by a miracle , which is probably the best thing, and worst thing that ever happened to Kenny.
They wanted Byron to see what the real world was like, and he did. He almost saw his sister died. I can not imagine how terrifying this was for Byron, because his whole life he thought as everything as a joke. Now he saw something so serious, I can not imagine Byron EVER joking like he used to again.
Can you imagine yourself, thinking that your sister died, on a normal day, when she had done nothing to you, or your siblings, or your parents? They were completely innocent, they were loved by you, and practically everyone! All you could think is "NO." Then, you find she was lead away from church by a STRANGER? that would be extreme for Byron to hear from Kenny, and it changed him. He doesn't joke anymore, because he has seen what the real world looks like, and he doesn't want any trouble. Nor does Kenny. They now know how cruel people are, I mean they almost saw their sister die! That is to the extremes! That is beyond a normal, in fact you can't call it normal anymore! You call a day that you don't want to remember, for you would absolutly hate to go back to the terror, then wonder, then relif. Still, it was harder for Kenny because he couldn't stop thinking about those girls. Were they dead? Will they even survive? What about those poor families who lost their beloveds. Thoughts flood you mind. They flood my mind and I wasn't even there! Could you imagine having a day like that? Would it change your point of view? Would it change your perspective, you thoughts, and basically your whole life, like it did for Kenny and Byron? They have learned that life isn't fair, life has danger, life has people who hate others for no good reason! People who will never ever learn how much they have damaged the world by doing what they are doing. They have hurt the world, they have made the world come to it's knees, and made little kids afraid when they never needed to be. The world doesn't need to be at mercy for these awful people, yet we are. This is something that Kenny and Byron now understand, even though I wish they didn't have to. Sometimes you just wish you could go back in time and help these people, people who don't know what they are doing to the world, destroying that is! These people need to know what they are doing, because they still do it today! Look at our world! It's filled with terroists liek ISIS and Talabane, and Alcada! They do these things, and do them, and do them, and do them, and do them! They don't stop, they don't care, they just ruin our world! They don't know what they are doing! They are making our world a world of terror, a world of extreme loss, adn world where many would not want to live if we were given a choice. Like the end of the book said, some people are made to stop these people. From prior knowledge, we know that some people think their purpose is to terrorize, and scare people to death! Figuratively and literately, they do scare people to death! We need to stop these people, because we needn't fear these awful people. We need to show these people we aren't scared of them, because that is what they want! They want a world of scared people, they want a world of terror and disaster. They want the people that are good, kind hearted, and how do whats right blown off planet earth. but we won't let these people get to us, because as we learned from Kenny and Byron, there are bad people. We just need to chose whether we show them that we are scared, or that we are strong.

It efects Kenny because if they never went to birmingham for the summer, the watsons wouldn't have experienced a whirlpool, or kenny wouldn't have experienced an expoling chirch either. Kenny probably wouldn't even be worrid about his parents if it wasn't for their trip to birmingham!

I picked Kenny. I think this experience is a great experience because Kenny learned that a lot of things can happen in the south. He learned in this chapter that a lot of people can be cruel when he talked to Byron. I think this trip really made their lives better. I this chapter Kenny talked with Byron . They had talked about many things and what has happened. Kenny learned that there are many dangerous things around him. He got really scared about his sister and learned many things can happen. Now that I have seen all of this I think that in Kenny future he will be more careful and more aware of what might happen and for Byron it is kind of like Kenny's. Byron will stop all of his nonsense and not kid around so much in his future.

This is a bad experience for a kid like Kenny.Kenny was shocked when he figured out that Joetta was alive. This shaped Byron because he got a better attitude and figured out the real world in Birmingham. This was probably more terrifying for Byron to think about his sister to be dead than it was for Kenny. Byron thought everything was a joke in the beginning of the book now this came across him and his whole life changed.

I am very positive that the summer of 1963 affected everyone in the family. Especially Kenny. I mean, getting caught in the whirlpool can really change someone. Now he will understand the dangers of water and will listen to warnings. And maybe he won't try to be like Byron and be "Daddy Cool". Even though that affected him, i think the biggest thing was when he left the church. Leaving a family member behind when there could be a chance that they can die, is just bad. Kenny was all confused. He thought he left her behind because of the "Wool Pooh" and he didn't want to face him again. Joetta thought she had chased Kenny home but it was actually just a stranger. Even though Joetta wasn't hurt or even in the church for that matter, at the time Kenny thought he left his sister for dead. After, he would disappear and go behind the couch in his house because he felt ashamed. Once Byron helped him, I think Kenny came out a new person. He has a new view on life and that's great!

Science says that the younger you are the more likely you'll fear something bad. lets take this for example: lets say that as a kid you get really hurt by a spider now science stats that you should have Arachnophobia or fear of spiders. Knowing that and that Kenny saw the explosion that happened in the church he could Ecclesiophobia or the fear of Church's.
