Someone that I have known for a long time is a person I trust, because we have known and talked about many things. Someone who I am just hearing about, I don't really trust because I haven't heard the story very before , so I would be suspicious.

The rest why is because you can hear it from your cousin and you would believe them for then you would believe a person you don't know. I'm not saying shut that person out, listen to their side but you know you trust family or your closest friend more then someone you don't know.
