Trump sent 238 Venezuelan Migrants with no criminal records to Salvadoran max prisons. It was said by El Salvador's justice minister that the only way out is in a coffin. One 31 year old man sent fled Venezuela because he was being persecuted for being gay, he was sent to CECOT despite having no criminal record. The conditions in CECOT are horrible as prisoners are held in a cell with only standing room and room for bunk beds, so despite doing nothing wrong he is being forced to live in these horrible conditions.

Mexico

Many American tourists who go to Mexico receive an almost "Walt Disney version" of the country as they often don't leave the resort or cruise area. Those who do leave those areas are now being warned by the US Government to not visit several states in Mexico due to rises in crime and kidnappings. Port areas are often seen as safe even if they are in a do not visit zone. Tips from the US Government include not showing signs of wealth, keep family informed of where you are going, and being extra careful when using ATM's. I believe these warnings are warranted due to crime increases in Mexico.

Haiti

Haiti has been controlled by local gangs for years after turmoil in the government that hasn't had an election since 2016. Hiring Blackwater is significant because the company has a reputation of fighting gang members which it has signed a contract to do in Haiti. This is huge news for Haitians as the UN recently listed the capital at threat to fall to the gangs. The small police and military force of Haiti has really struggled to fight the gangs.

Argentina

Earlier this year, both the US and Argentina withdrew from the World Health Organization over claims the agency mishandled the COVID-19 outbreak. In a joint statement from RFK Jr and Argentine Health Minister Lugones they claim the WHO “failed to provide critical access to information, impairing countries’ ability to act swiftly and effectively, with devastating global consequences.” The new alternative will invite other countries to join them in "shaping a new era of global health cooperation". The statement does not provide a name for this new organization. This is significant as it shows a lack of trust in the WHO by not only the US but possibly other countries which is huge for global politics as it may split the world into listening to 2 different health organizations which could lead to the spread of misinformation.

Venezuela

The US State Department has warned travelers not to go to Venezuela because of huge increases in wrongful detention and torture. Venezuela currently holds the largest number of detained Americans outside of the US. All Americans have been told to immediately leave Venezuela. The US claims, U.S. citizens are at extreme risk of detention when entering Venezuela at any location. They may be unjustly charged with terrorism or other serious crimes and detained for long periods". Also that there is no safe way for Americans to go to Venezuela. However, this is not exactly new as Americans have been warned about travel to Venezuela since 2019 but due to an increase in kidnappings, wrongful detention, and torture, the US has increased the level of the warning from 3 meaning reconsider travel to 4 meaning do not travel. Venezuela also doesn't tell the US about US citizens being detained there so it is extremely difficult to help those detained.
