Casa do Penedo is a particular type of “prehistoric” house located just between Celorico de Basto and Fafe, in the north of Portugal. The house, which is also known as “Castle of Stone” was built between four giant stones originally found in the area. The castle was built in 1972 and integrated perfectly into its natural landscape. Built by engineer Guimarães, the castle was meant to be a rural retreat for the holidays for a local family.
It has got two windows, a door, a chimney, a strange roof and a swimming pool in the back.

Habitat 67 in Montreal designed in the 1960’s by architect Moshe Safdie when he was just 24 years of age. It consists of prefab units that have be stacked in an ingeneous way. It was designed to integrate the variety and diversity of scattered private homes with the economics and density of a modern apartment building. The project was designed to create affordable housing with close but private quarters, each equipped with a garden. The building was believed to illustrate the new lifestyle people would live in increasingly crowded cities around the world. The project turned out to be much more expensive than originally envisioned.

 Small village is located in the heart of Kashubiaon.
LOCATED AT THE FOOT OF A MOUNTAIN, this travel home highlights the symbolic inversions of the communist regime in Poland, literally turning an entire house upside down.
 
Built in 2007, this tourist trap/political statement is like a mysterious house with an anti-communist bent. The upside-down house is essentially a fully furnished house like any other, but it took much longer than usual to build as the workers became disoriented, forcing them to stop working.
 Visitors have to enter the house through one of the attic windows, but once inside, they can wander around the house on the roof. The interior is decorated with furniture from the 1970s. There is even an old television. It's in touches like this that the real message of the strange attraction, drawn by project patron Daniel Czapiewski, becomes clear: life in communist Poland has turned the world upside down.

If you're interested in the political message or just want to get dizzy walking around an upside-down house, this place has it all for you.

Krzywy Domek is an irregularly shaped building constructed in Sopot, Poland. Its name means curved house or twisted house.

Krzywy Domek was built in 2004. It has an area of approximately 4000 m2 and is part of the Rezydent shopping centre.

It was designed by the architectural firm Szotyńscy & Zaleski, inspired by children's book designs by Jan Marcin Szancer and Per Dahlberg. Access is via Monte Cassino or Morska streets, in the center of Sopot.

Daihai Fei live in a small egg shaped house made of bambu with two meters tall. It has with isulation and a menbrain waterproof on a skin of bags full sawdust and seds of grass. On spring the seds start germinating and the house get covered whith grass. the house is put over wheels to Daihai Fei get hows inside to anywere at any time. The house ave simple furniture. Like a bed, a tiny bookshelf and a tiny tank with water to wash his things. Th house was projected to meet al the Fei's basics needs.
This house is amazing but it is stange too!

This house is as dramatic as it is simple. Designed and built by F2 Architecture, the Pole House overlooks the Great Ocean Road in Australia and takes advantage of its location and spectacular views in a very unusual way. The plot on which it was built is a steep hillside which obviously presented a challenge. The architects came up with the most intriguing solution. they built a concrete platform on a 13 meter high pylon and they put the house on top. By elevating it like that, they put an emphasis on the views but were faced with a second challenge: there was no way to comfortably access the house. To solve this problem the architects also built a narrow concrete bridge which links the house to the hillside.

Antoni Gaudí trabalhou no Parque Guëll, em Barcelona, entre 1900 e 1914, mas parece que suas construções ainda causam estranhamento em algumas pessoas. A Mind House levou o primeiro lugar da lista. Hoje o local funciona como entrada do parque e, ao lado da casa onde Gaudi morou entre 1906 e 1926, forma um conjunto digno de conto de fadas.

This Airplane House is in a village called Miziara in Lebanon. This isn’t an airplane that’s been turned into a house, it’s a house that was built to look like an airplane Airbus A380.

The Airplane House has two floors, with tirthy windows on each side. The home’s entrance has a sliding door, just like an airplane! It has a fancy living room and a spiral stairs. It has two balconys with an amazing view. One of the only differences between this house and the Airbus A380 is the tail with a small statue of the Virgin Mary.

This is an amazing house!

The steel house is located in Texas, USA.

This bizarre structure is actually someone’s house—or, at least it used to be. The steel abode is the labor of love of Robert Bruno, an unconventional sculptor who handcrafted it from 1973 until his death in 2008.But after 35 years of hard labor, time got the better of Bruno and his masterpiece was never completed. There are gaping holes between the house’s different levels, and the architect’s plans of installing an aquarium, a pool, and the moldings of nude models plastered to the walls were never realized.

The Mushroom is a contemporary residence in the twon of Perinton, New York, Witch has been featured in television programs (notably HGTV's offbeat America series) and books (notably the WEIRD U.S series) doe to its whimsical appearance. Patternd affter umbels of Queen's Ane's lace its brown color is more suggestive of Mushroom. The house was construted for attorney-artist couple Robert and Marguerite Antell between 1970 and 1972 and was designated a town landmark in 1989.
The estructure is sited in a moderately-wooded ravine adjacent to Powder Mills Parck. The house itself comprises for 80 ton pods whitch rest on reinforced concrete stems of 14 to 20 feet in height. These fan out from three feet in diameter where they connect to the pods to five feet at the base. The sides of each pod's "cap" are completely windoweb. One pod serves as the linving and dining area, one as the kitchen, and two as sleeping areas. An additional "Half pod" provines an open deck area. The house has three bedrooms and three bathrooms in 4,168 square feet.

THE CAR HOUSE

Located in a traditional looking area of Salzburg, Austria and close to the borders of a nature preserve, Voglreiter’s Auto Residence sticks out like a Gremlin in a parking lot full of Mercedes sedans. Voglreiter had bought a traditional suburban 70’s house on a corner lot and wanted to redo it – what possessed him to make it look like a car is not quite clear. Amazingly enough, with his house located near the historic area of Salzburg, Voglreiter built the thing to code and got approval for it.

The home features energy efficient heating and cooling and super tight insulation and shading, natural daylighting and ventilation all play a major role in the design, however unconventional. Another result of the remodel is separate dwelling areas for parents and children achieved by closing off former openings and thereby allowing many different generations to live under one roof.

This unusual house, not only exists as a personal residence built in 2003, but inspired a larger version four years later that is now a restaurant and bar by the same builder, The Car Das Auto.

Houstonian John Milkovisch worked through the late 1960s to transform his Houston home at 222 Malone Street into the Beer Can House. The Beer Can House is now one of houston's most recognizable folk art icons. It is covered with flattened beer cans, bottle caps, bottles, and other beer ephemera. Architect's statement: At the end of the turn-around is the piece of land, with upward topography, where the Nautilus was built. It is limited by three of its adjoining properties because each of them has high buildings. The fourth adjoining property if to the west and has wide views of a green area with mountains in the horizon.
This room recreates the deep sea, with walls of sand, blue tiles and high round windows. From a niche in the wall a jet of water as a spring gushing from the rock and Both the rooms and in the living room or small bathroom ceiling voids allow light to enter, as in the troglodyte houses, very sheltered from inclement weather

This home has dispensed with the divisions that separate units other in the common parts, achieving a harmonious and unified open, similar to the house of a mollusk space.
