I really enjoyed the Treetops and Khaotone resort. It was fun to go up in trees and zipline across the water, but spending time at the resort was nice. We could relax and swim in the pool, play table tennis, badminton, ride bikes or just relax in your room on the river. We also learned a lot from this trip. I learned more about WW2 (well more about what specifically happened in WW2) and about the PoW's, about what they went through, their living conditions, various diseases they had to face and the harsh work they had to do.

I found this trip very fascinating as I have experienced many new things from riding a speed boat along the River Kwai to attending the Tree Tops adventure park. The nature around this place was very magnificent. In every single view of the surroundings, it always made me think about the comparison between the place and Cambodia. Overall, I was sure to understand and know deeper about the World War II as when the Japanese spent their invasion forcing the Prisoner of Wars building the railway. The trip has gained me a lot of experiences and knowledge about how it would be spending the time with my friends and teachers. Not only that, I have had the opportunities to explore Kanchanaburi (only some of the places) in which only a very few people could be able to go. The next time I would go on a trip like this would be very useful if I use my experiences to cope myself within the moment.

While we were in Kanchanaburi, I have learnt a lot of new things about World War 2. I wouldn't have known about the railway if I didn't join the trip. I enjoyed almost everything. I really enjoyed it when we sat on a tiny table with a kerosene lamp talking about our struggles and problems. It made me feel better since I have let out all the things that I couldn't say before. I also enjoyed when we jumped in to the river. At the beginning I was scared to jump, but when I jumped, it was really fun and I tried it one more time. The treetop was also really fun, but I expected it to be as long as the one one we did in Koh Chang. It was really fun when we played in each other's room. I think during this trip, as a class, we got more close and know each other more. I wish that we can re-start this trip or have an other trip as a class.

On my trip to Kanchanaburi there were many highlights. I had lots of fun, I enjoyed the tree tops adventures and swimming in the river because it was a new experience for me. Swimming in the river was a bit of a challenge because the current in the river was really strong and as we didn't know about any creatures that lived in the river, we were a bit afraid. I learnt many things on the trip. One thing that I found interesting that I didn't know before was that the railway was built in the time of war and a lot of people have risked their lives and died to build it. I learnt a lot about my classmates and what they are all like outside of school when in a different environment. The most memorable thing was floating down the river seeing elephant poop it was disgusting and fun at the same time because I had to swim away from it while thinking about what creatures might be in the river. This trip also allowed me to get closer to a lot of people.

I think that this trip was really educational yet fun at the same time, I have learnt a lot about the history of Kanchanaburi and the Hellfire pass from the cemeteries and museums that we've been to. I also learnt more about the building of the railway and how the prisoners of war were treated. I enjoyed the whole trip, I enjoyed the tree tops adventure on the last day, I liked the long zip-line at the end. I think the most memorable moment was when we went to the ceremony on Rememberance Day because we got to join the ceremony and we got to see the families putting flowers on the graves. I think what I enjoyed most was being around the class for a week, that got me closer to the class and the teachers.

I found that this trip has been one of the most enjoyable trips personally. It contained everything from interesting museums and historical treks to terrifying zip lines that had us soaring over lakes.

I have to say that my favourite part of our adventure was either remembrance day and the museums or watching the film 'The railway man' with my class mates. I found the remembrance day service and museums interesting because, personally, history is one of my favourite subjects and I found that what we were learning about (WW2- Japanese controlled South East Asia) was very interesting because it related to where I live in the world. I liked the movie because it was an awesome bonding experience with my classmates and the movie really did help **Side note: PLEASE WATCH THE MOVIE! IT'S AWESOME**

In the trip, I have learnt so much more about the WW2 atrocities that occurred in Thailand. I learnt of the immense struggles and torture the allied soldiers had to face whilst being a Prisoner of War (PoW). I learnt of the diseases and slavery that PoW's were subject to. I learnt that, although in a terrible situation, people still tried to find the positives in situations. I saw the bridge across the river Kwai- a bridge that cost so many men their lives. We listened to first hand recounts of slavery in Kanchanaburi. There are so many we learnt and this trip fired our curiosity.

From this whole trip I gained so many different things. I've gained awareness for the events that occurred in South East Asia from 1939 - 1945. I gained a better understanding. I gained knowledge. I gained a closer bonds with teachers. I gained furry friends a long the way (We met a huge white dog in which we named Snowball at the war cemetery. We have no idea where he came from, all we know is that we saw him bounding across the graves towards us where we pet him.) I gained happiness. I gained experience. and most importantly, I gained a closer bond with my friends. I guess you could say I have more reason to miss them when we depart.

I really enjoyed the last few days of the trip, the Treetops Adventure, watching the railway man and eating pizza afterwards, singing on the 'party bus' and staying at the Khaothone resort because we talked under the stars at night and it was really pretty. At the resort we could play badminton, ride a bike, swim and go 'rafting'. There was also a horse and a cat. I learnt about 'Death Railway', what happened to the PoWs, why it was built in the first place and what had to happen for it to be built. I also learnt more about World War 2 and Singapore's involvement in it, before the trip i didn't know that Singapore was involved. I gained a larger knowledge of 'Death Railway' and World War 2. Also I experienced of a lot of new things this trip like ing over a 7 metre deep lake, attending a the memorial service and getting on the news, riding a train for 3 hours, 'rafting' down the river and getting pulled out at the end causing brusies, running in the rain to get food and talking about stuff under the stars with a leaking kerosene lamp.

Overall the trip to Kanchanaburi was really enjoyable and quite eye opening. I enjoyed that one night where we all sat around and talked about the journaling questions, it was really deep and relieving to know how we all felt about our personal struggles. The environment and atmosphere of the area was stunning and really looked like something that would be on a holiday post card. And I think we all learned how close we really all are to each other.

This trip was an absolute success and I personally really loved it. I now have a better relationship with multiple people from the trip which I felt really happy about. I think I've gained some more insight on other people but also for myself. I was very proud of myself when I was able to have an honest talk with someone about how I felt really negative about them and how much they really irritated me involuntarily. We were able to set aside these things and decide just to be friends which was something I'm relieved with. To conclude I think this trip was fantastic and very mind opening.

To conclude this I am going to say I know this is a very cheesy quote which you may find cringe-worthy but "It's not about the places you travel to, it's the people you go with".

It was my first time going to Kanchanaburi we stayed there for 6 days (1 week). It wasn't that tiring for some days because I expected that we would walk a lot everyday but it wasn't true. The most challenging and tiring day for me was walking in the museum because it was a long way to walk back to the exit. I enjoyed mostly everything there especially the treetops/zip line and lastly swimming in the River Kwai. The food there was very good I expected for most of the food to be spicy but it wasn't that much since we always had buffet for lunch. We learned a lot about the war between Thailand and Japan a lot of people have died during the war which was 5000 people. We saw creatures on an island which was a very big lizard on the way to the treetops we were riding a boat across River Kwai. We saw pictures of the people building the railway during the war they were very unhealthy which didn't get to eat meat.

I really enjoyed the boat rides we had on the River Kwai since we were so close to the water and the fresh air was amazing, on top of that the landscape was picturesque. We were all so quiet it gave us time to admire nature. I learnt about how Kanchanaburi was involved in World War II and what the lives of the people living at that time were like. From this trip I got the opportunity to experience riding on a on different types of transportation e.g. songthaew. Knowledge wise I got a better understanding of World War II and that a lot of towns were actually involved or affected in different ways. In general I faced my fears once again, from walking on a train railway above ground to doing the treetops course, to being surrounded by dogs, to placing a wreath in front of lots of people in a memorial.

Overall I had an awesome time with my classmates and will definitely be a memorable last trip. All of this is possible because of the teachers. So thank you Mr David and Ms Lori for convincing my parents to let me go to the very first trip and for making all of our trips possible and Ms Ali, Mr Sophak and Ms Johanna.

During the trip to Kanchanaburi, I enjoyed all of the activities mostly hanging out with everyone in the class. Before the trip to Knachanaburi, I didn't know anything about the railway and the things that happened there. Until when I went on this trip, I've learnt a lot about the history of Kanchanaburi and how much the prisoners have to go through. I think the most memorable moment was when we jumped in the to river, I think that is the most memorable moment because at the beginning I was really scared and was about not to try it but afterwards when I tried it I felt really happy cause I've overcome my fear and it was really fun that I did it again.

I enjoyed this 5th, very last residential trip with my classmates at iCAN. It is something that would probably last a long time in my memory. I enjoyed the time with my friends. I enjoyed the food. I enjoyed the acapella on disco bus on our way to Hellfire Pass. I enjoyed the music and the dancing on the floating dinner dance floor. I enjoyed the entire time at the floating raft resort. I enjoyed this last trip I would have with my friends.

I learnt about the gruesome history of the Thailand - Burma Railway with the PoW and including Hellfire Pass. It wasn't pleasant. It was in fact quite ironic, how such an enjoyable trip and a beautiful place could have such a violent history. Despite all this, it was an important thing to learn about. I also learnt that KimThong is a terrible, TERRIBLE storyteller and riddler!

During this final trip, I develop even greater relationships with different people and I gained a lot of different knowledge. I want to thank everybody who made this trip as "Class of 2016 style amazing" and possible!

What I enjoyed on the trip? I enjoyed a lot of things during the trip! Things I found enjoyable was things like, watching the movie 'The railway man', activities such as going on a boat trip at the speed of light, eating at fancy restaurants, doing challenges such as going on high places (Tree tops adventure). The main reason why I enjoyed the trip was the activities and because I didn't go alone.

What I have learnt during/after the trip was. The main thing I had learnt during the trip was the history of a specific place which was, the history of Kanchanaburi. And a little more about WW2. The countries that were involved which was ~ Singapore, Japan, Australia, Holland, America and the UK. A little thing that i also learnt was how to make a radio that receives signals from a certain place. The final thing I learnt during the trip was the things that had happen to the prisoners of war - How they were treated and what had happen to them.

What I have gained from the trip? I have gained more knowledge

I really enjoyed riding in the different transportations, all ranging from a speed boat where you were so close to the water, to a songthaew where you could feel the wind. I also enjoyed the things we did while we were on the transportations which were singing, creating one-word-per-person stories and much more. Too add on, I liked doing the tree tops course since it was one of the few activities that required a lot of physical movements. From this trip I learnt a lot more about who was involved in WW2 (e.g I didn't know Singapore was involved) and the building of the railway overall. I gained more knowledge about WW2 and also how the more you know, the more you realise how much there is so much more to know.

This was my first time going to Kanchanaburi. It was an amazing week, it was not as tiring as I expected but I still had a great week. Answering the question what I enjoyed doing most in the trip was a hard question because I enjoyed doing everything over there. Going in museums learning about the railway and visiting the memorial place was also fun because I didn't know anything about this place and the history of this place. It was an incredible week. The food was good and I ate a lot and also learnt a lot.

Wow wow wow, what an adventure and what an exploration of important history of rather mature level, fit for the eldest troops of iCan, y9, while having great moments of fun in between. As a parent, the priority is a safe arrival to enable again to share the fun. When viewing some of the train track pictures it gives me fear of height, but you guys seem to overcome that easily. Liana, we miss you here, but that pain is softened by the joy you must have there. Trust you will have a great time still ahead, all the way till it truly ends. The thought provoking questions were:

1. Imagine what your life would be like if you and your family had to do without mains electricity for 48 hours. What problems and barriers would this create?

2. What have you learned about the challenges faced by other people? What possibilities were opened up in their lives through overcoming their problems?

3. What problems and barriers may you experience in the future and what could you do to overcome them?

Without a doubt the most insightful, honest and courageous discussions I've ever had the privilege to be a part of. A truly special group of young people who made us all immensely proud this evening. Thank you all!

Yesterday we attended the Armistice service commemorating the end of the World Wars. There were 5000 graves but out of all of them there was only one female; she was a nurse named Phoebe Mercer. We were given a challenge to find her, we simply asked the head person for direction. Andrew and I (Mariamawit) took the wreath to place under the cross monument. We had lunch back at the buffet raft restaurant. We went back to our resort to undertake a science challenge that required us to answer questions with our table groups. Later on in the evening we went on a boat along the river Kwai and ate dinner on the boat.

Its the 4th day of the trip and I'm really looking forward to today because we are going to go rafting (which we did last year in Bali and it was really fun) and to a place called Hellfire Pass where we will get these headphones that have people who were there talk to us about the place and it's going to make it feel really atmospheric.

If there was one word to describe the whole day today it would probably be... Amazing. Today ranged from roaming around caves and screaming on high speed boats to silently walking around the WW2 Death Railway cemeteries. So far we have been having an absolute blast. The resort is fabulous and everyone seems to be in good spirits. There have been no incidents of danger or death yet fortunately. We're just finishing up our 2nd day of the trip and we can't wait for what's coming next!
