Violinists have to practice posture and how to properly hold the instrument. To be good at playing different things, you have to learn to sight read, and how to improvise when needed. You also have to have a working knowledge of other instruments in the orchestra and be able to recognize them so you can actively listen to those around you to stay in time with the music.
