We live with the misconception in our head to be never satisfied, "we have to conquer more, we have to earn more, we have to be richer, we have to be cruel, we have to be unkind, we have to be disrespectful, we have to be self-centered.

While we enjoy our abusive and manipulated lives, people suffer because of our choices.

And poverty is not only about money but values, privation, and possibilities as well...

They're deprived of basic human means.

We don't only talk about income, but other significant factors such as race, sexual identity, sexual orientation, and little to no access to education.

Generally, a distinction is made.

This is understood as Absolute poverty (or extreme poverty). On the other hand, relative poverty is also included. It happens when a person in a wealthy country cannot meet a life socially accepted.

The relative poverty line is much higher than the global absolute poverty line.

These are some root causes of poverty. We don't have to forget about discrimination poverty. In some cases, governments may put certain laws and regulations that prevent certain individuals or communities from accessing services, such as healthcare, education, or social services. They may also be denied access to the labor market and/or housing, which can prevent them from reaching a suitable standard of living. In other cases, deep-rooted societal beliefs can isolate individuals, families, and entire communities.

An estimated 333 million children live in extreme poverty.

Children who grow up impoverished are born in a disadvantaged state.

They have to work harder to overcome the obstacles that modern life puts in front of them.

Money worries affect all aspects of life and it's even tougher for children; maybe they won't ever have the opportunity to enjoy their school life and get proper grades and a satisfying career, it's difficult to embrace real friendships or to maintain a good state of mental health.

Children living in debt are five times more likely to be unhappy than children from wealthier families.

Many times the situation is by a great deal worse.

Generally, criminals tend to recruit poor children, who often have these issues on their backs too, into gangs. This phenomenon increases criminality and supports awful human conditions in the society.

Besides many children drop out of school to try to achieve a better life for themselves and their family, although it'll be only a utopian dream.

They become slaves, literally.

And we, as humans, do not do anything to stop it; rather we benefit from it.

His actions began in 1976, when he saw village basket weavers living in extreme poverty despite their skill. Considered poor credit risks, the artisans were forced to borrow money at high-interest rates to purchase bamboo and made no profit after repaying moneylenders. Yunus made a loan from his own pocket to a group of women who repaid the funds and made a small profit for the first time. Yunus realised that not always loans of billions were needed to escape poverty (the first micro-loan was of 27$)

In 1983, he established the Grameen (Village) Bank.

He is a member of the board of the United Nations Foundation and has received numerous international awards for his humanitarian endeavours.

"IN: Microfinance has also come under fire in recent years. How do you maintain quality control as your organization and your ideas spread?

MY: The problem is not microcredit. It’s using the idea for the wrong purposes. Some programs in India treated microcredit as an opportunity to make money. [...] Now in some places even the loan sharks call their services microcredit. But we have no problem at Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, because microcredit has remained mission-driven. We want to help poor people. We don’t see them as an object for making money."

BUT recently, the court of Bangladesh sentenced him to six months of prison for violation of labour laws...

Justice will make its course and, of course, he's defending himself from these accusations...
