After flying six hours without break, the flock of seagull from Red Sand Lighthouse needed to renew their strength by a good mess of herring. They squealed with relief when the lookout gull found a school of herring in the portside. From high above, they saw ships’ flags which represented different ways of speaking. Kengah – a female gull and her fellow she-gull commented about hard work of humans to understand each other. Beyond the shoreline, the flock sliced into the water to gulp down tasty and fat herrings. Then they flied to many destinations, met many flocks and gathered together. Female or male gulls have their own roles and duties. They devoted themselves through the journey. Because of not hearing the warning, Kengah was left alone while catching her fourth herring.

Chap 6:
Living with the warm affection of the cats, Lucky grew rapidly and turned into a svelte young gull with silky silver feathers after just one month. Just like that, the fast growth of Lucky had prompted Eistein to commence seeking a method to teach her how to use her wing and fly upwards. However, the thought of soaring to the sky suddenly occurred to the newly grown gull as a dreadful idea as all she wanted was just to become a cat and a cat couldn’t fly. One afternoon, Lucky unexpectedly encountered an uncongenial chimpanzee in the entrance of the bazaar and, with a unpleasant attitude, the big simian just told her a half- lie truth that she was totally different form the cats and only be brought up to be a big, fat, mouth-watering meal for them. Little Lucky was badly hurted and depressed by the chimp’s embellishments but Zobra showed up to comfort and prove the unconditional love of the cats towards the downbeat seagull: “… We love you because you are a seagull. A beautiful seagull… You are different and we were happy that you’re different… we’re give you all our affection without ever thinking of making a cat out of you. We love you as a gull…It’s very easy to accept and love who are like us,but to love someone different is very hard, and you has helped us to do that”. Moved by the touching words of Zobra, Lucky started to understand the underlying reasons behind all of this and sympathize with her cat father. Afterall, the young gull and the big, fat cat began walikng back and restore the sentimental connection between them.

Although the cats checked conscientiously the theory of flight, Lucky ended up after rising only a few inches. After every failed, Lucky became more melancholy. Secretario said that maybe she had lived too long with them and had lost the how to fly. They admited that they didn't know how to teach Lucky to fly. However, each of them was responsibile for teaching Lucky to fly, they looked for help beyond the cat world. After the meeting of the cats finished, they decided to break the taboo and would speak with a single human.

Before starting to teach Lucky how to fly, Eistein ordered to recheck all the technical aspects one last time to make sure no dreadful consequences will happen to the little gull. During last week, two crucial events had happened and they had truly arouse the deep-seated desire to fly inside Lucky. However, when the gull dicided to flap her wings and fly to the sky under Estein’s command, She just failed and dropped like a leaf. This failure, in turn, had really demoralized her and make she feel totally disconsolate.

The cats gathered togerther with a list of possible human to decide who will teach Zorba. There were the restaurant's chef René, Carlos the maitre’d at il restorante and also a good friend of Secretario, SevenSeas’s soft-hearted captain and the little boy at Zorba’s house, who was on vacation. Unfortunately, all of them were not suitable. Despite all their amazing personalities and knowledges, they did not know anything about flying, so they would not be helpful in this case. The cats were so sad that they could not choose the suitable human, but then Zorba thought of an unexpected human: the one who lived with Angelina. He was a writer, whose house always filled with soft music. Despite his strange behaviors, there was something about him made Zorba felt reliable. That was the story about why Zorba kicked off his conversation with the poet.

Zorba set out across the roof tiles toward the terrace of the chosen human. After greeting Angelina, Zorba requested her to invite him inside and introduced him to her human. Despite his supplication, Angelina steadfastly refused because no one could bother her human while he was working. Seeing that there was no use persuading Angelina, Zorba decided to do it his way. When the human was typing indoors, he was attracted by the yowling from the outside, so he went out on the terrace. Zorba took advantage of the moment to slip inside the house. Going back inside, the human was filled with surprise when Zorba started talking in the language of the humans. Half doubtfully, he observed things that he was witnessing, and then they got down to business. Zorba told him the story of little Lucky and asked for his help. The human decided to take action right away on that stormy night. They agreed to meet at midnight outside the door of the bazaar, and Zorba lopped off to inform his companions.

On a rainy evening, the cats pleaded the chimpanzee to help them open the door, but they were harshly refused. When the poet arrived, they had no choice but to climb up and break the window. Zobra and Lucky jumped down, snuggled into the poet's arms. He took them to a soaring church where the whole city could be seen, and where Lucky could learn to fly. Lucky was very scared and wanted to give up, but Zobra gently encouraged her to believe in herself and that the whole sky would be hers. Finally, the seagull took a deep breath, jumped down and flew up under the witness of the zobra and the poet. She also did not forget to express her gratitude to her mother before having flew away. Zobra breathed a sigh of relief, pondered, and said: Only those who dare can fly.

Zorba lay beside the egg and protected it for many days. Those were long, uncomfortable days that Zorba sometimes felt were a complete waste because it felt like he was caring for a lifeless object, fragile, it was white with blue speckles. He felt tempted to test whether a little gull chick was growing inside that calcium container. The Colonel, Secretario, and Einstein visited Zorba and examined the egg every night, but the egg looked the same as it did the first day. Every morning, Zorba hid the egg among some flowerpots on the balcony. But that morning he heard the human say they will clean the balcony, he went to the kitchen and broke the bowl, waited for the human to run to the kitchen, Zorba slunk from the kitchen, raced at full speed to the balcony, roll the egg from the flowerpots to one of the bedrooms. On day twenty, as night fell, Zorba drowsing; he didn’t notice that the egg was moving slowly. But a tickle on his belly woke him, he realized the egg was changing. He steadied the egg, watched as the chick pecked and pecked until a hole opened large enough to allow a tint, damp, white head to emerge. “Mommy” the gull chick squawked. Zorba didn’t know how to respond. He felt as if emotion and embarrassment had turned him pink all over.

Four cats jumped from the roof to the balcony and knew they were too late. They observed the lifeless body of the gull with respect, while Secretario whipped his tail in the wind to rid it of the smell of benzene. They overcome their distaste for the oil-soaked feathers and folded the gull’s wings close to her body, and in the process, they discovered the white egg with blue speckles. Zobra wasn’t really sure what to do with the egg, so Secretario quickly recommended an omelet, and Einstein would check out how to prepare it. But the Colonel pronounced solemnly that they were not allowed to say any more word about the omelet because Zobra promised that poor gull that he would look after the egg and her chick. But Zobra didn’t know how to take care of an egg, so six eyes turned toward Einstein because perhaps in his encyclopedia there would be something on that subject. The Colonel assigned Zobra to lie beside the egg when he and Secretario accompanied Einstein to see his encyclopedia, and after that, they’d all bury the poor seagull. Zobra was left on the balcony with the egg and the dead gull, then he lay down and pawed the egg close to his belly. He felt ridiculous and thought of the razzing he would get if the two ruffian cats he’d faced down that morning could see him. But he still kept his promise and fell asleep.

After the chick was completely out of the egg, the chick wanted to eat. Zobra didn't know how to feed it. He just knew the gull ate fish, however, where was he going to get a piece of fish. He went to the kitchen and found something to eat. Gave an apple, a potato or cat food for the chick. All in vain because the chick was too young to eat them. Suddenly, he remembered the chick was a bird and the bird ate insects. Then he ran to the balcony and waited to catch flies. He heard the voice of the two derelict cats who were kidding him. He didn't mention them and came back with the chick. After the chick had eaten full, the chick began to sleep. He admitted he wasn't your mother. The chick had negated it. Colonel, Secretario and Einstein showed up and found the chick sleeping. They talked about the chick and Einstein realized the chick didn't have food so he asked for Secretario to bring herring from the restaurant with the best invitation. They talked about three promises. The end of the chapter is interrupted by the chick.

When the door open, he turned an empty flowerpot over the chick. Fortunately, the human didn't discover. The doubt arise in the friend because Zorba hasn't come running when he opened food as usual. Zorba thinked about the human word" Crazy cat". Maybe he was right. Because he thought that Zorba intended to eat the chick but Zorba actually want to grow it. Zorba followed the promise that he said to dying gull. Zorba would teach the chick fly though he didn't know how. The chick squawked and Zorba go out to balcony. He saw two derelict cats. The didn't see Zorba. The ruffian cats approached and the chick squawed to help. Zorba leapt and he landed on them against the floor. The chick called Zorba" Mommy". The two cats mocked Zorba. The first certain intended to scratch, but Zorba claws split an ear on two cowords. They beat a fast retreated. Zorba realized the balcony wasn't safe, so he decided to move the chick to another place.

Boy or girl? That is the key to giving a name. The cats don't know the gender of the chick. So they need to help with SevenSeas - an authentic oceangoing cat, the mascot of Hannes II. It takes three days to talk with him. He took responsibility for keeping and saving the mouth of the Elbe. When he went there, Matthew grunted at him to pay a fee. He replied and showed off the things he experienced. Without any respect, he commended Matthew for getting out of the way. He went to the room and met his friends for a great meeting. Then, quickly, they were told to him about the seagull story. He got it and expressed his anger with the actions of people who were seriously polluting the ocean. Colonel asked him about the gender of the chick. He considered and made a decision that the chick was a pretty little girl gull. In view of the good fortune to be under their protection, her name is Lucky. Sevenseas gives more proof for this name from the name of the ship and the color is the same. Everyone is in favor of the name. They gathered around the chick and made the baptismal ritual of the cats of the port to welcome the daughter of the cats.

Gathered in Harry’s bazaar, the cats decided that the chick could not be left at Zobra’s apartment any longer. There were too many risks, and even greater than the presence of two derelict cats was the human. After a brief conference, they agreed that Zobra and the chick would live in the bazaar until it learned to fly. Zobra would go back to the apartment every morning so the human didn’t get worried and then would return to look after the chick. They wanted to get the chick a name, but first, they had to know whether it’s a boy or a girl. Unfortunately, Einstein’s encyclopedia said nothing at all about how to distinguish the sex of a gull chick. And they started to think about Sevenseas, who might know about the gull’s sex. And when the cats were deep into their discussion, the chick wandered around among the dozens of stuffed birds. All of the sudden, a rat with red eyes was standing in its way. When it was about to

attack, the chick shrieked and Zobra came. The cats realized that they needed to have a serious talk with the rat, and then Zobra went over the crack and followed the rat to see its leader. After a short negotiation, the rats agreed to leave the gull alone, in exchange that they had free access to the patio at night.

Thanks to his long and curved front paw, he easily took care of that matter and hurried on to the restaurant. Zobra informed Secretario, who was a skinny Italian cat, about his urgent desire to meet the Colonel whose age was a mystery. He possessed a strange talent for giving advice to cats who had problems so he was the lead authority among the port cats. Zobra narrated the Colonel everything about the appearance of Kengah and her deplorable condition. The old cat also wanted to help the poor gull get in shape to fly again but they didn’t know how to do. Three cats decided to ask Einstein professor who knew everything.

Einstein’s location was quite difficult to describe and required visitors to have well-developed sense of direction in case of getting lost. It was combined by a cluttered shop of curious gizmos, a museum of exotic whatchamacallits or a storehouse of mechanical thingamajigs… His owner, Harry, was an old sea man and addicted to collect things which were bizarre and had to be exhibited into three houses. There were nearly a million objects like: hats, engine-order telegraphs, wooden elephants, novels in different languages.… and other odds and ends too abundant to name. When trotting into the bazaar, The Colonel, Secretario and Zobra were barred their way by a Harry’s pet, Matthew. He acted as a ticket taker but later was threatened by Zobra’s paws and just let them tail proudly to go in.

The boy was confused about what to take on vacation and what to leave at home. The big, fat, black cat thought that the boy was a good kid while chewing crumbs. The boy gave the cat the best things and spent many hours with Zobra. He wanted to be a caption of a large sailing ship and he promised to take Zobra with him. Zobra never forgot that he owed his life to him since the day that Zobra did not want to be nursed by his mother. Although his mother prevented him from abandoning the basket, he did crawl out of the basket to see a little of the world. The cat almost ended up in the belly of an ugly old bird. The boy saved him and started a friendship lasting 5 years. Zobra would be lord of the apartment and he planned about 4-week schedule at home.

Kengan unfolded her wings to take off, but the approaching wave was too quick. Its force swept her beneath the surface, and when she came back up, the daylight had disappeared. She shook her head again and again, realizing that she had surfaced through the black wave of an oil slick that had nearly blinded her. The black stain. As she awaited the end, Kengah cursed all humans. «But not all of them. I should be fair, she squawked weakly. Often from high above she had watched as large oil tankers took advantage of foggy days along the coast to steam away from land to wash out their tanks. They spilled thousands of liters of a thick, stinking substance into the sea, which then was carried along by the waves. The accursed oil had stuck her tail feathers togeth- er so tight that she wasn't able to steer on her ascent. She dived again and pecked at the black gummy sub- stance stuck to her tail. She bore the pain of the feath- ers she accidentally ripped out until finally she was satisfied that her steering gear was a little less fouled.

He big, fat, black cat was taking the sun on his balcony, purring and meditating on how good he felt lying there, belly up, luxuriating in the warm rays of the sun, his four paws folded and his tail straight out. Die? Don't say that. You're tired and dirty. That's all. Why don't you fly over to the zoo? It isn't too far from here, and there are veterinarians there who can help you, Zorba said. I can't. That was my last flight, the gull croaked in an almost inaudible voice, and closed her eyes. Don't die on me. Rest a little and you'll see, yoư'll feel better. Are you hungry? I'll bring you a little of my food, just don't die, Zorba begged, approaching the swooning gull. Zorba thought the poor gull was delirious, and because she was in such a sorry state, he had no choice but to be generous. I promise I will do what you ask. But for now, just rest, he mewed with compassion. I don't have time to rest. Promise me you won't eat the egg, Kengah croaked, closing her eyes.

Three cats finally meet Einstein professor who was nervously pacing back and forth because some rats had chewed one entire page out of the atlas. Zobra asked Einstein for help about the gull’s story. Einstein said they must consult the encyclopedia to find the answer. Unfortunately, the letters G for “gull” and O for “oil” provided them with some information that failed them. However, the Colonel offered another idea, searching practical advice about how to take out oil stains. They found instructions on how to remove stains from marmalade, China ink, blood and raspberry syrup. All four cats decided to trot toward the exit and seek these materials for their treatment on Kengah.
