         <description><![CDATA[<div>Vladimir Lenin, a radical member of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party insisted on a revolution. Lenin demanded an immediate end to the first world war and the redistribution of land to the peasants.<br><br>The Bolsheviks swept the nation with revolutionary ideas rising in power through a popular slogan "Peace, Land and Bread". Lenin's ideology became more popular as Russia continued to suffer during the war while the provisional government struggled to face economic problems.<br><br>By October 1917, Lenin and the Bolsheviks had enough support to overthrow the provisional government.          <description><![CDATA[<div>A peace treaty signed on March 3, 1918 between the new Bolshevik government of Soviet Russia and the Central Powers&nbsp; that ended Russia's participation in World War 1.<br><br>Recognition of Ukraine, Georgia and Finland as independent states. Russia giving up Poland and the Baltic states of Lithuania. Latvia and Estonia given away to Germany and Austria-Hungary. 25% of oil exports given away to Germany<br><br>Leaving the world war allowed Bolsheviks to get the "breathing space" they required to consolidate power and a halt to the German advancements. The Bolsheviks could now focus on the civil war.</div>]]></description>

Factories with 10+ using machines nationalised and directed by government. The Cheka and Red Guard would use force to take crops by force and arrest Kulaks if they refused to co-operate.</div>]]></description>

         <title>New Economic Policy (1921)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Lenin introduced the new economic policy to revive the economic policy and retain political power while building socialism. Socialism to be built without foreign aid.<br><br>Agricultural production left to the free market. Peasants could buy, sell and produce freely. The end of grain requisitioning replace by tax in kind. Smaller factories allowed to trade freely and were denationalised. The government invested in re opening factories which were closed down during civil war.<br><br>Famine ended, food of all kind available in market and city markets. Industrial growth, the government stimulated production<br><br>NEP was favoured by peasants which made 80% of Russia's population. NEP brought back economic stability for Russia.<br><br></div>]]></description>
