Based on LinkedIn's values, the actions I would take in response to this scenario would be to be as open and honest as possible and try to come up with any possible ideas of what could help the employee with the newborn in the ICU. The steps I would take would be to be patient first and understand that the needs of that employee are important and urgent, so I would take the time to communicate with other team members about anything we could do to help, and then come up with a final idea and implement it. The impact of this decision would reflect the values of LinkedIn since it demonstrates members first, relationships matter, demand excellence, collaboration, and results. Helping out other employees strengthens the team and therefore the company, and it also helps to produce better results since uplifting other team members not only helps them but serves as a good reflection of your character.

Based on LinkedIn's values I would first be very open and empathetic. to the situation. LinkedIn values its members first and believes that relationships matter, so that is exactly how I would view the situation. Next, I would be open, honest, and constructive with how I would address this situation. I would let the manager who approached me, my sincere concern for the employees situations and that I believe we should assist them. I would then constructively discuss strategies I have to attack the scenario, by acting like an owner. I would also want to take risks that I felt made since and were smart in the given situation, and express that I feel that these should be taken. In addressing this, I would want to make sure I upheld LinkedIn's culture of collaboration, integrity, humor, results, and transformation.

Based on LinkedIn's values, I would be open, collaborative and convey that relationships matter. Since I try to keep an open mindset, I have to remember that there are unforeseen circumstances in everybody's life. As a manager, I should be receptive of uncontrollable situations. Since I also believe in collaboration and that relationships matter, I should understand that people will have to take care of personal connections and relationships in order to be present and take care of internal relationships. I would want to make sure I uphold all these values throughout every process.

Given LinkedIn's value of managing compassionately and the metaphor from the Dalai Lama, as a business partner, I would respond by demonstrating compassion and seeking to understand the situation further before offering assistance.

I would express concern for the employee and her baby in the ICU and ask the manager for more details about the situation. This may include asking about the employee's needs, the support available to them, and any potential ways the company can assist, such as offering flexible work arrangements, providing support resources, or extending paid leave options.

By taking the time to listen, understand, and provide support tailored to the employee's needs, we can embody the company's value of managing compassionately and ensure that our response is helpful and supportive.
