Check security and constitutional rights at northern border

-Citation:Higgins, Mark. "Check security, and constitutional rights, at northern border."
The Seattle Times, national ed., 26 Aug. 2019, Editorital sec. The
Seattle Times, www.seattletimes.com/opinion/editorials/
check-security-and-constitutional-rights-at-northern-border/. Accessed 11
Oct. 2019.
Headline - Check security, and constitutional rights, at northern border Argument - Interior immigration checkpoints could have possible violations of Fourth Amendment rights.
Ethos, Pathos, and Logos - Ethos can be seen when the article credits Washington Senator Patty Murray as the government official credited with starting the investigations on border security officials. Logos can be seen when the article states that Border Patrol agents had apprehended more than 200 people at the Spokane Greyhound bus station. The article also goes on to talk about how the country has an extensive 100-mile border zone, which includes the country's 10 biggest cities. Pathos can be observed when the article persuades the viewers to feel empathy for the immigrates that are apprehended at the border. Because the author says that their 4th amendment rights have been violated due to officials searching their belongings within the 100 mile border, it makes the viewers feel as if their rights have been violated.
Propaganda - My article implies a "plain folks" technique because the author makes it seem like the people being violated are average people who just happen to be immigrates. "Lesser of two evils" can be seen when the author contrasts border security with constitutional rights. He mentions that while immigration enforcement is important, those same immigrants also have the same constitutional rights as listed. The way the author ends the article shows foreshadowing when he ends with, "Time to find out."
