Scenario:

A new student joins the class mid-year. They don’t know anyone, and at lunch they are sitting alone.

Our Response:

Our group said that if no one shows empathy, the student will keep feeling isolated and might think they don’t belong. But if someone invites them to sit at their table or talks to them, it shows empathy and makes them feel included. Recognizing their worth means understanding that every student matters and deserves to be part of the group.

Why Empathy and Worth Matter:

Empathy matters here because it helps us imagine how lonely it would feel to be the new student. Worth matters because it reminds us that everyone has value and deserves friendship. Together, empathy and worth turn an uncomfortable moment into one where someone feels welcomed and respected.
