         <description><![CDATA[<div>I helped create a unique American identity by setting of schools in most communities to allow wealthy children to get an education. I set a rule in Massachusetts in 1647 where each community had to have a teacher who could be paid. Children in the southern colonies were usually taught by tutors or their parents, while in the Middle and New England colonies I was more wide-spread.</div>]]></description>

I passed laws that forced colonists to sell materials to Britain and anything that wasn’t from Britain was taxed. Ships that carried goods had to be from Britain and the crews also had to be from Britain.</div>]]></description>
