Some of them make most out of what they have by using special applications that can reduce the need for using more than one device, while still providing the students with an ability to actively participate in the learning process. (i.e., applications like Plickers, that remove the need for using more than one devices, by using QR codes printed on paper that are used to indicate students' answers) They also tend to use apps that can be used on students' smartphones or tablet devices that the school provides. My students react very positively when they get a chance to participate in a quizz and it feels very motivational - essentially, they learn while they feel like they are playing a game.

This is helped by using different types, colors and shapes of furniture and other equipment in the classroom. The furniture should be multifunctional and it should be possible to move it around. But that doesn't prevent us from doing collaborative learning, because there's a lot of tools nowadays that my students can use so I often employ different project-style tasks and students work in groups, many times throughout the year.

There's a lot of benefits of going on field trips, especially if you go out of your country - that way students get first hand experience and therefore can directly learn about different cultures or even learn their langauge(s). As an IT teacher, it's very worthwhile to establish a minimum of ground rules, from the get go.
