im going a little bit forward but it's a bit interesting how gloomy/depressed ruth's friend who translates the diary is after he finished. Not only because of the death of his dog but he also seems to quote something in french (page 315) which refers back to the diary and the tragedies talked about in it

I also think the fact that Ruth is so engrossed in Nao's story and subconsciously believes that it is all happening in the present kinda ties in to the whole "time being" concept and Nao/Nao's story kind of existing outside of time.

I agree with Ashley's notion that Nao's use of the word "you" elicits a feeling of urgency in Ruth. It makes her feel like Nao is her responsibility, and I feel like that is ultimately why she is so desperate to tell Nao the truth about her father, hoping to save her.

I found it interesting when Nao feeling invisible is compared to the visibility of Ruth's house for the Crow. It shows a strong link between Nao and Ruth and creates the idea of Ruth being her reader.

in response to the water question, I think it can serve as a metaphor for change but also the fragility of life. like if you think about it water gives us life but also has the power to take it from us

i think this dream also boarders the line between the whole genre of the book, bleeding a bit into fantasy now
