In Hooks classes, she had students write short paragraphs that they read aloud so that students can have a chance to pause and listen to unique perspectives from other students. The physical experience of hearing, of listening intently, to each voice strengthens their capacity to learn together. What makes them successful is associating these voices with personal experiences making us more acutely aware of each other in the classroom. the collective participation creates a more community feeling for learning.

Class is a form of silence because of the expectations you have to follow to present yourself as a respectable being. Any form of outbursts of interruption, in fact any form of natural human response that doesn’t follow the status quo is deemed unfavorable and shameful. One movie I can recall is a movie called Matilda where a little girl with supernatural abilities goes to school. The principal of the school is one of the strictest teachers I’ve seen. The class goes silent when she enters the room and the fear of being out of line is at its highest. This movie definitely shows a perfect example of classroom silence.

Class is a form of silencing within many different movies. For instance, The breakfast club. Class is being represented as 2 of the "lower" class characters get detention for trying to start a rebellion against the "higher" class people. If these 2 "lower" classmen were within the "higher" classes I feel like their rebellion will not be seen the same and nothing would be done to them. This movie uses stereotypical characters of different backgrounds and ethnicity to demonstrate class differences.
