He speaks about his diagnostic and how he might have tourettes but he doesn't let it define him. This video can help kids understand that people with tourettes are human too and they are still normal people. Tyler was diagnosed when he was 6 after he got an eye tic. His parents first took him to the doctor but they quickly realized his eye site wasn't the problem. He then spoke about how hockey helps contain his tics and he has to stay focused in order to stay safe. It has a bunch of examples of tics and how the kids feel like they aren't control. It feels like an itch that needs to be scratched. Some kids felt the need to hold it in at school and would have tantrums when they get home because they need a release. There is medicine but there are major side affects and it doesn't cure tourette's, but it does help the tics by about 40%. Overall kids with tourettes want to speak out about it and say that it isn't who they are. They spoke about the different types of tics such as vocal tics like a whistle or shout, compared to physical tics like punching oneself or rapidly blinking. There are also complex tics which could be a twirl or a sentence. Tourettes is diagnosed when someone has more than one physical tic, one vocal tic (happening within a one year span) and it has to be functionally impairing. There is also premonitory urge which is the itching feeling when a tic comes about. It is also influenced by hereditary and environment. Tourettes is also most likely diagnosed with another type of disorder such as ADHD or OCD. He starts with a breakdown of what tics are like and what ages are largely affected. He then goes about the methods of treatment which doesn't cure this syndrome but slows it down. Stimulants are used but there are major side affects and it works better when tourettes is paired with another disorder. Children with tics are just as bright as regular kids but they do struggle in school more than regular kids. Education is a big part of this problem because some kids and adults are unaware of what tics are. Tics appear in only 1% of the population but they aren't diagnosed until the tics stop their functionality. I always wondered what it felt like and where these tics come from. I always felt bad for kids with Tourettes because I didn't want them to feel left out and different from others from something they can't control. There are lots of movies with characters that have Tourettes and this is what sparked my interest in this syndrome. 
 Tourette syndrome is a neurological disorder that is hereditary and affects all ages. In children, Tourette syndrome shows up around the elementary school, but tics begin developing at a younger age. Their diagnosis is officially Tourettes, and not another tic disorder, when they have more than one physical tic, at least one motor tic, they have been occurring for at least a year, and the tics get in the way of everyday life. Their tics feel like an itch that they need to scratch and they can't control their urges.
