Water scarcity is the lack of having access to water and according to the article there are still 1.2 billion people that lack access to clean drinking water.

Opportunity Cost:
I had the decision of whether or not to take an apprenticeship and work 2 days every week instead of going to school. I chose to take the apprenticeship, but the opportunity cost of taking the job, in my opinion, was giving up sleep in order to make work in the mornings and finish the homework from AP English.

Trade Offs:

In many third world countries, not just water but food as well, is increasingly scarce. Places with limited money and resources obtain and grow less food for the people of their country. Many communities make a living off of selling their crop leaving a minimal amount for themselves and their families. In 1973, gas shortages became scarce in the United States, starting in Oregon, when OPEC placed an oil embargo due to its support of Israel during the Yom Kippur War. After the war, the price of gas increased by 37 percent and the supply became extremely limited. During this time, long lines for gas were common at the gas stations and when theft occurred, the stations began to lock up their pumps. Because of the war, the limited resource for gas became increasingly scarce leaving the people of Oregon without gas.
