         <description><![CDATA[<div>The early settlers of Zimbabwe were nomadic. They got their food by hunting and gathering. The Mashona people began migrating here around 300 A.D. In 1834, the Matebele conquered Zimbabwe, and named it Matebeleland. In 1889, the British took control. In 1980, they finally gained independence. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The altitude in Zimbabwe greatly influences the climate. The higher areas receive more rainfall and are cooler than other areas. The summer season lasts from November to March, and is followed by a transitional season where rainfall and temperature decline. The cool, dry season lasts from May to August, followed by a warm dry season which brings them back to summer.  </div>]]></description>
