But this job was in comparison to his foreign job was less paid one, so they couldn’t afford the cost of living in their current apartment, so they decided to rent a small house in suburbs. The pain was intermittent, worse at night, and relieved by ibuprofen, which susi bought herself. Ravindu has been going to pre school for past 3 months and is a very active and competitive child. He is also feeling intermittent dull central epigastric pain. His appetite is normal, he has no nausea or vomiting and he has not lost weight. His bowel habit is normal and unchanged. There is no relevant past or family history.

Manju, a three year old boy diagnosed with haemophilia is presented to the hematology clinic for follow-up after a recent hospitalisation after severe knee swelling. The patient didn't report any earlier symptoms on haemophilia. The patient's family history is note worthy
Mother Susi (normal) and father Kamal (normal) got married at the age 24 and 32 respectively. Mother Susi has four brothers who are not effected by haemophilia (normal). Father Kamal is the only child in his family . In 1990 Ravindu their first son was born. Ravidu was diagnosed having haemophilia at the age of three after having knee swelling , excessive bleeding and has to take three factor VIII injections per month. Mother was only educated upto A/l and is unemployed father is a mechanical engineer . Because of financial problems and to go further with treatment Kamal has to work abroad in Saudi but he visited his family frequently. They had decided against having another child since there is a risk the child may also have haemophilia . Unexpectedly Susi conceived with a child. The ultra sound reports stated the fœtus a female which ment the baby won't be having haemophilia but unfortunately the ultra sound reports deceived them. The baby was a boy(Manju). Manju was considered a normal boy since he didn't seemed to have any symptoms on haemophilia. Chances of Manju being normal was 50%. After the fall which happened on 2012/11/10 Manju is suffering from swelling knee and severe bleeding. Inital laboratory test results clarifies that Manju is suffering from haemophilia. Manju is now awaiting further treatment

In 1988, Susi, who was 24 years old at the time, married Kamal, who was 32 years old. Susi was educated up to A/L but was not employed. She has 4 brothers who are all-normal in terms of medical conditions. Kamal was a computer engineer. He was the only child in the family. Ravindu was born in 1990. In 1991, the following year, the one-year old Ravindu was diagnosed to have Haemophilia, a rare condition that occurs in about 1 of every 5000 male births. Haemophilia is a X chromosome-linked genetic disorder that is caused by mutations in the factor VIII and factor IX genes. Both factors take part in the intrinsic pathway of blood coagulation. Over the next two years, Ravindu started having recurrent bleeding into his joints and therefore had to be administered with three Factor VIII injections per month. During 1990-1995, the couple had decided to avoid further pregnancy as they started having financial problems due to this. In 1995, Kamal went to work in Saudi Arabia. He frequently visited the family upon getting enough money.

June of 1997 marked the unexpected conception of the second child and the couple was worried. However, there was still a 50% chance of the baby being a female. In August, happy news arrived when the ultrasound scan reported it as a female fetus. In April of the year 1998, Manju was born. He was a normal baby boy but surprisingly, a boy! And yet, the chance of being normal was 50%! Because Susi was a carrier for haemophilia, and it was possible for the baby to have either inherited it or not.

On November 9th,2001, yesterday, 3-year old Manju had a fall and started developing a swelling in his elbow. His mother was unable to take him to hospital as there was no way she could leave Ravindu alone, because any injury could end up being fatal to him. Today, Manju has developed severe joint swelling and Susi has come to realize that he too has haemophilia.

Kamal and Susi are worried sick because both their children are victims of Haemophilia. They have lost all hopes of having another child because of this, and their financial situation. Kamal has a job with decent wages already. Susi has decided to take up self-employment or a job she can do from home that would fit her qualifications, in order to pay the medical bills. Haemophilia is sometimes referred to as “the Royal disease” because several members of European royalty have had this disease. Even now, there are many like Kamal and Susi, who live among us with silent pain and unheard voices.

In 1988 Kamal and Susi married each other. Kamal was a computer engineer and was 32 years old, and he was the only child in his family so he had been carrying plenty of responsibilities since he was a teen. Susi was educated up to AL and was not employed. She was 24 years when she got married. Also Susi has 4 brothers with no medical illness.

After two years, in 1990 Ravindu was born. When Ravindu was a 1 year old baby, doctors diagnosed that he has Haemophilia. Haemophilia is a mostly inherited genetic disorder that impairs the body's ability to make blood clots, a process needed to stop bleeding. This results in people bleeding for a longer time after an injury, easy bruising, and an increased risk of bleeding inside joints or the brain.

In his 2nd or 3rd year he had recurrent bleeding to his joints and started three factor V111 injections per month. 5 years after the birth of Ravindu, Kamal and Susi had to avoid pregnancy. This was made because of the financial crisis they went through at that time.

In 1995 Kamal went to Saudi and started working there. He was earning adequate money and was able to visit his family quite often.

2 years later the family was in a deep sorrow as they got to know about the unexpected conception for the second child. At that time they were hoping for the chance of 50% of getting a baby girl. They were hoping for this because, a baby girl could only be a vector of Haemophilia or a healthy child.

Their dream was fulfilled by the ultra sound scan which reported a female fetus.

Another year later they got a baby boy named Manju, and was reported as a normal child, but still 50% chance to a haemophilic child.

After 3 years, Manju had fallen and because of that he developed swelling in his elbow. Mother Susi was unable to go to the hospital as there was no way to keep Ravindu alone, because injuries to Ravindu could be fatal to him. With time Manju has developed severe joint swelling. Then only Susi realized the truth that both of their boys are heamophilic

There was a 50% chance of baby been a female, An Ultra sound scan was done and results said it is female fetes, family was billeted. April of 1998 Manju was born, a normal baby girl.
On 10th of November 2002 Manju had a fall and developed a swelling in her elbow. She was hospitalized but Susi wasn't able to visit her at hospital as there was no way to leave Ravindu along because of his still prevailing conditions. In the mean time Manju has developed severe joint swelling.
Sussi have realized that this might also can be a similar symptom to Ravindu's ,So she immediately called hospital and informed the medical personnel about Manju's brother's condition, Doctors ran quick scans to assess the condition and mother's suspicion came right because Manju was diagnosed with same disorder.
