When planting tomato plants, mound up dirt quite a ways up the plant. It will strengthen the tomato and help the plant grow bigger. If mounding the soil up isn't an option, plant them deep in the soil, even deeper than the container it came in.
Cassie Muske

When transplanting or planting plants, dig your hole in the ground and fill it with water. If your soil is really dry, you may need to do it a couple of times before placing the plant. This allows the water to get right to the roots and lessens the shock of being moved.
Cassie Muske

I want to grow cucumbers and zucchini, but we've got a small space and don't want the whole garden taken over by those two plants. I've heard there's a way to put in a trellis or something for the vines to grow up rather than out - does that actually work? And how exactly do I set something like that up?

Amanda Wilson
