Last Saturday, I stood at the edge of a pool, my heart pounding. The water looked deep, and I hesitated. Dad watched as I took a deep breath and finally jumped in.

           I splashed wildly, struggling to stay afloat. My instructor cheered and guided me to the pool’s edge. “Well done!” he said. 

           Dad gave me a proud smile. “I saw courage in you, Tom.” Proudly, I called myself fearless.

Dad shook his head. “Courage isn’t being fearless. It’s about trying even when you’re scared.”

           His words reminded me of the time I stood up to bullies. I had been afraid, but I knew it was the right thing to do.

           That day at the pool, I understood what true courage meant. Thank you for your attention!
