Hello and welcome to my Padlet on LiveBinder! I am a high school librarian, but have taught high school English and I was an elementary librarian. I have used LiveBinder since I was first introduced to it three years ago and it is now something that I share with all of my colleagues. I hope that this Padlet helps in your LiveBinder journey. I have included a website with reviews and examples, a how-to video, some frequently asked questions, helpful tips, and examples of how LiveBinder can be used by teachers and students.

Why yes, yes you can. When a LiveBinder is created, you can chose to make it Public. A Public binder can be viewed by anyone. This screenshot shows a search I did for Library Lessons. All of the binders created showing Library Lessons is able to be opened. This is a great way to get ideas for lessons on any topic.

While LiveBinders are great to store all of that "teacher stuff," they are also a great place for students to do projects. A great way to get students started with LiveBinder is to create a template Binder of them. Share the link to the template Binder with the students and then instruct them to make a copy of the Binder. Once the copy is made, they are then able to add their own information without editing the original binder.

Why should a teacher use LiveBinder?

If you are anything like me, then you probably have binder upon binder filled with teaching materials or a file cabinet filled with papers. I know I had an entire book shelf filled with binders for all of my different units. LiveBinder has now taken the place of those physical binders and bookshelves. I can easily locate the unit I am teaching, see the lesson plans I have used in the past, and print out any documents I may need or share the document to my Google Classroom. Now my bookshelves only hold books. I am now also able to easily share my Binders with administrators so they can see what I am doing in my library.

How does LiveBinder help student learning?

It is rare that a teacher hears the excuse that a dog ate some homework, but excuses are still there. The most common excuse that I have heard from students is that they lost the instructions for the project they needed to complete. LiveBinder removes those common excuses. I create a student version of each of my Unit Binders that contains the syllabus, rubrics, handouts, PowerPoints, and any other link or document that is helpful for the unit. If a student is absent, they can access the notes, videos and documents for what they missed or if a student "loses" a document that can find it in the LiveBinder. I have done this on websites and in Google Classroom, but have found that students prefer the organization of LiveBinder over everything else. No more excuses, at least not regarding losing anything!
