Three sisters were the main crop/farming method in both areas. (Squash, beans, and corn) // 2. Similar to the intertribal council in the Northeast, there was somewhat of a government council in the Southwest as well; however, it consisted mostly of the male heads of house within the tribe. // 3. Both economies began locally as bartering agricultural systems but extended to more advanced currencies, such as turquoise in the Southwest and shells, pearl, and silver in the Northeast.

The Northeast was different from the West because they were more based on agriculture (the three sisters)- Iroquois tribe had 3 different crops in one field. While the West was more based on hunting for animals such as fish, bison, and deer.

The Southwest was different by the tribes coming together to make decisions as tribal leaders for their communities. The West however were very separated and family based.

Southeast was similar in agriculture by man hunting for fish and deer while women planted corn beans and squash. They were also matrimonial (mother generations) in both West and Southeast.

The West is relatively unique in that there was minimal agricultural practice. Hunting, gathering, and trading were much more common.

Additionally, the large number of Tribes is unique to the West and the Plains area. Many smaller tribes aligned culturally but stayed separate.

The West was similar to the Plains in that it had both peaceful and violent warrior tribes. They were spread pretty evenly across the region.

The "Three sisters" which was a term from the Iroquois tribe was used in the Northwest and the southwest, which was crops grown in the same field. Theses three crops were squash, beans, and maize.

A difference from the southwestern and southeastern native Americans was the southwest tribes didn't hunt while the south east did along with fishing. They depended on farming and put it in the gods hands.

As we know the South West was religious and had gods they prayed to for agriculture and crops however in the south east there isn't a lot known about their religion expect that they used mounds.

On the other hand a similarity was they both used the 3 sisters which was composed of maize ( corn), beans, squash.

Another similarity was their government they had localized powers that would help make decisions for the whole community.

One similarity between the Plains Natives and the Southwest, were the planting of the three sisters (beans corn squash). These crops were a big part of the ordinary diet and both geographical locations are prominent areas for these crops to grow.

One difference between the Plains Natives and the Southeast Natives were their ways of harvesting animals. The Plains would usually hunt big game (buffaloes) and grew crops while the Southeast harvested small game (deer) and fished for their food.

One difference between the Plains Natives and the Western Natives are the items they traded. Plains Natives were more focused and on trading animal hides and items while the west was focused on trading shells and marine life.

The Northeast and the Southwest are similar because tribes both developed agricultural lifestyles, which led to sedentary societies. The Southwest and the Northeast both used the 3 sister system which increased crop yield, leading to trade and a flourishing economy.

The Southeast and the Northeast are similar because they both contained matrilineal societies, which meant people's lineage was traced back to the mother.

The Northeast and the Plains are similar because as certain resources started to become more desirable, the Plains wanting guns and horses, and the Northeast competing for trade, conflict started to break out. Tribes started fighting with each other, which led to the Great League of Peace in the Northeast, to help resolve trading conflicts.

The Southeast American Indians relied on agriculture in fertile lands, forming hierarchical societies with mound-shaped structures.

And some similiarities I found was that they both fished, And practiced agriculture.

A similarity I found was with the South West tribe and the tribe I worked on (Plains) Both tribes experienced droughts that ruined the agriculture of the areas and made hunting more favorable, a difference I saw was also how people in the southwest would favor adobe buildings and stationary villages meanwhile the plains tribes would move locations frequently to hunt more bison.

A difference I found was how politically unorganized the plains tribes were compared to places such as the southeast who had a congregation of tribe leaders to make peace and trade. This lack of political system was still suitable because the Plains groups were nomadic and never stuck around long enough to develop ties with nearby tribes and also the vastness of the plains meant tribes were very far apart most of the time.

Another difference I found was with the Geographic features of the Plains compared to all the other areas. The plains were pretty uniform throughout and were mainly just mountains and grasslands, however the Western tribes were completely different and featured many different micro-regions with vastly different environments, agriculture, and wildlife.

The west seemed to be the only region with a defined currency in their trading systems in the form of shells and acorns. They also seemed to be the most organized trading system, even though the West was by far the most densely diverse region.

The Southwest among other regions seemed to rely more on farming as a food source while the West utilized hunting and gathering techniques to remain afloat.

The western tribes, specifically the Chumash, seemed to be the first sign of slavery in the United States utilizing it to collect their abundant natural resources that they had access to.

One similarity was that both were matrilineal. Both communities had few gender specific jobs like how the men hunted and gathered and the women would farm and care for the children.

One difference was the kind of food they hunted for. The west would mostly hunt for fish with some hints of meat. But the Southwest was fully animal meat since where they lived was an arid desert.

Another similarity was both had spiritual meanings for natural beings or actions like animals and hunting. Both would pray in order to have an abundant harvest or to kill a lot of animals for food.

A difference between the region I researched (Southwest) and the Northeast region is the contrast in climate and geographical conditions, in the Southeast region the climate was mostly dry and agriculture and farming was less prominent were as the Northeast region had more access to waterways and great conditions for farming.

One similarity between all the region's are gender roles. Each region wasn't necessarily patriarchal but the men and the women each had their own job. The women would mostly gather crops while the men would hunt.

A difference between the Southeast and Northeast regions was the housing. The Northeast all lived in long houses which were just really long wooden cabin-like building. While in the Southeast everyone lived in chickees beside the chief who lived in his own elaborate wooden structure.

A difference between the Plains and the Southeast was the way they lived in general. The Southeast had large settlement with 1000s of people and although they hunted they mostly farmed. But the plains relied on hunting as they were nomadic.

The plains and southeast were different, because the plains civilizations for the most part moved around a lot, meanwhile the southeast civilizations were sedentary. This makes sense because the amount they moved around related to how they earned their money.

Political similarities and differences- In the west the more powerful tribes were the one that had access to water. The southwest was mostly egalitarian expect for the fact that men participated in a counsel to make decisions for the group.

Social similarities and differences- In the west men did the hunting and women did the gathering and took care of the children. Houses were made out of wood, brush, and leaves. The southwest was similar because the women also were head of the house and took care of the children, but both men and women helped with farming. They saw farming a more sustainable.

Economic similarities and differences- In the west they used methods of hunting, gathering, and fishing. Since they had access to water this allowed them to have fish as a main part of their diet. Acorns were also a staple and often used a currency. In the southwest they grew corn, squash, and beans but also practiced hunting and gathering. They had to use irrigation systems to keep crops from burning from the hot sun.

The main reason these places have differences is due to what they have access to and how they can continue to make a living.

Like the plains the tribes in the Southwest also grew the three sister crops that helped shape their economy around the harvesting of these crops.

In all tribes, men and women were always equal. Of course there were some key differences, like guys were the chiefs. But overall, they were treated equally.

The main similarity between the plains and the southwest was that ancestry was traced through the mothers side as a major contradiction to what the europeans believed in. The equality between the man and the woman was another huge similarity between pretty much all of the Native American tribes.

Some similarities that I had noticed between the Northeast and West is that they both live near bodies of water and rivers and mountains etc. The women in both of these tribes/groups would gather and harvest the crops, and the men in both of these tribes/groups would go out and hunt and get the food.

Some similarities between the West and Southwest tribes were that they both share the same mountains and geographic features.

One difference between the Southwest and other regions was that the Southwest did not have any complicated political systems and mostly voted in groups.

One similarity that I noticed was that in the Southwest their political system was organized around chiefdoms. Similar to how the plains first had not much political structure but then with the introduction of horses chiefdoms became the system of structure.

A difference that I noticed is that in the plains Native Americans would hunt in the summer and harvest their crops in the winter and in the west tribes would struggle with underdevelopment in their economies because the land was either too dry or wet.

A similarity that I noticed was the most common crops in the plains for farming such as corn, squash, and beans “Three sisters” and the Northeast squash beans and corn established the “Three sisters” as well.

In the South East, the tribes hunted and gathered but in the south west, they farmed plants and stopped gathering wild produce.

I noticed that the Northeast and West are similar because they are both located near mountains.

One difference between the Southeast and and Plains are the geographical features. The Southeast was very hilly with lots of trees while the Plains were flatlands without many trees. These geographical conditions contributed to the type of hunting that occured in these areas and how food was obtained as well as determining if tribes would be sedentary or nomadic.

A similarity between the northeast and the southeast is that both were big on farming. This might be because farming was a consistent way to get enough food for the winter, and even to begin a trading economy so both developed the same love for farming.

A difference between the northeast and the plains is that the plains were egalitarian while the northeast were tribunal. This might be because the roles of women were more important to the plains, while the northeast had a higher dependance on women's abilities to take care of the house, while the men provided.

A difference between the northeast and the west is that the tribes in the west moved a lot, while the northeast tribes stayed in place. This might be because tribes in the west relied on hunting, gathering, and fishing, leading them to need to move constantly, while people in the northeast farmed meaning they did not have to move around as much.

Unlike in my region, the plains, the northeast had tribes that a were more sedentary as the plains tribes were more nomadic.

My region and the southwest are similar because they both trace their bloodline from their mothers side and the women were more important.

I noticed that the Northeast and the west were both in areas that had lots of mountains and rivers making them great for staying there because of the food source in fishing.

A similarity that the Western tribes shared with the plains tribes was living in small, mobile huts. This was probably due to the fact that these tribes needed to travel depending on their food source.

One difference between the Western tribes and the Northeast tribes was the social relations within the regions. Western tribes mostly kept to themselves and only engaged in small trade. The Northeastern tribes were very connected and came together to solve major problems in their region.

A difference between the Western and Southeastern tribes was their practices in building. In the Southeast large dirt mounds were built for the socially elite, while in the West there was no large scale construction.

Unlike my region which was the Plains, the Northeast region was very unique in the fact that many of the tribes in that region had reached some sort of trading agreements. This system was put together by the Iroquis tribes who created the Great League of Peace. This group helped eachother to decide and create rules regarding trade and diplomacy, also considered the first form of democracy in the Americas.

Something different about the Plains compared to the Southwest was that fact the Southwest had developed complex irrigation systems to support advanced and large amounts of agriculture. The first tribe to fully develop this strategy were the Ancestral Pueblos who primarily cultivated maize.

Similary to the Plains most regions had many groups who were also nomadic and practiced that lifestyle. But the Plains were primarily nomadic due to the regions very arid climate.

In the west they build houses that can be easily taken down and moved unlike the plains. Because of the constant movement based on how good their farming or fishing/hunting was at the time but with the plains it was almost always the same.

The plains were much more egalitarian than the south east which means that the plains just valued women more than men and when they married the men took the woman's last name and moved in with her.

The people of the Plains were the most nomadic unlike the people of the west who were extremely sedentary.

Southwest tribes were sedentary tribes while tribes were in the Great Plains were nomadic. The Southwest area was so arid that they needed to settle in order to advance their irrigation systems and agriculture.

The Southeast region traded extensively throughout many tribes all over North America alongside with Northeast tribes that traded widely as well.

The Northeast tribes were considered agricultural societies that farmed, had advanced irrigation systems and were sedentary, as well as the Great Plains region.

A difference between the Southeast societies and the Plains is that the Southeast had many trees and rolling hills and the Plains were mainly flat lands and a small amount of trees so there housing would also be different.

Southwest also has a lot of desert and lack of rivers compared to other regions.

Similar to the Northeast they are both big on agriculture. They would raise similar crops such as the three sisters (squash, beans, and corn). They both had big agricultural economies. They both had good agriculture because of the amount of rain they both got.

A difference between the Southeast and the Plains is their different lifestyles due to their climate. The plains were a lot more dependent on Buffalo because of the harsh conditions for farming while the Southeast depended greatly on growing crops.

A difference between the Southeast and the Southwest is gender roles. In the southwest, men and women would help farm; in the southeast, women would mostly help around the home.

Areas like the plains tended to have very similar housing to the west this could be due to the following of resources like buffalo and also the loss of resources in areas that used to be inhabited.

The Northeast and West were also similar mainly in the use of rivers as both used them as areas where one could fish and gather. I think this is due to these areas having several rivers nearby to use as these hubs of fishing.

West and Northeast were very different from one other in their political aspects i think this was due to the lack of government in the area of the West since most were just large families that would move to where they could find resources while the Northeast was more dependent on there tribes and large groups.

One similarity I saw during the presentations was that the Southwest and Northeast had closed housing. This was probably due to the weather, although both had completely different weather.

A difference I found through the presentations was that the Northeast was one of the only regions that was based in a mountain area.

A similarities between all the regions were their gender roles. The women would usually stay at home with the children while the men would go out and hunt. I think they did this because their ancestors did and they just wanted to follow the ways they did.

The Midwest Indians and the North East Indians have a lot of similarities. In the Midwest region there was the Adena-Hopwell people, the NE American Indians where decedents from the Adena-Hopwell population. One difference that sets them apart is that the NE Indians farming strategies spoiled their soil very quickly, which ment they had to move around a bit to find different spots to farm.

The Great Plains Indian Americans where extremely unorganized compared to other regions settlements. This is because they would often split up depending on conditions and then come back together. If you compare that to the SE, it really shows you how unorganized they where, the SE Indians had leaders and a more solid foundation.

One similarity between the SW Indians and the NW was that they both lived isolated and protected. The NW settlements where protected by mountains, which isolated them and made them harder to find. The SW people often lived in caves and under cliffs, this offers them more privacy and makes it easer for them to hide.

Northeast and Southwest society people built big homes and because of this they didn't move around too much, a reason for this would be for the harsh climate so it would be hard to move around in the cold winters

In contrast if you look at the plains they would make teepees for living because they were easy to put up and take down because they would move around a lot with the buffalo.

Another difference between the northeast and other areas was they they were not known to participate in slavery, however some areas in the the west and southeast were known to use slavery there is no ‘why’ for slavery because it was used because it helps to have free labor but its not used used because it's evil I think the Northeast was more civilized given they had “the first american democracy” and that is why they did not participate in slavery as much.

A difference between the southwestern tribes and the plains tribes are that the plains tribes were all diverse, they all hunted and gathered, while tribes in the southwest either hunted OR gathered. This is because of their different environments and how available resources were to them.

A difference the southwest had from other regions is their gender roles. In the Southwest, men typically did the farming and foraging, while women hunted, while in other regions, like the Southeast, women were the farmers. This is because of the regions' culture and how the perceive eachother.

In the southwest, homes were built to be more permanent and southwesterners created towns to have a residence to live in and raise a family. This is different from the West in which homes were built without the thought of longevity in mind. This is because of their environment and how their communities worked.

A similarity between the social aspects of the Northeast and the Southeast is that they both show how their groups organized their societies and showed interaction in their environments. This can be shown through the Northeast focusing on the labor between men and women in terms of gathering and hunting which reflects the reliance on their environment. While the Southeast shows the mound building and the connection with land. This shows the importance of cultural traditions alongside with social roles.

A difference between the Southwest and the West's geographical features is that the Southwest focuses on the desert environment and the specific lifestyle whereas the west focuses on the diverse environments and a more resourceful lifestyle of the tribes.

A similarity between the economic standpoint of the Southeast tribes and the Plains tribes is that it shows how Native American tribes adapted their tools and shelters for specific environments. This can be shown by the Southeast using the dugout canoes for transporting goods and the plains using the creation of spears for hunting.

A social similarity between the Southwest and the West is how women did factor in the gathering of food and did have positions in their counsil. While a difference that the Southwest and the West had was the geographic features. In the Southwest it was primarily dry and in the West it consisted of rain and cool weather.

A Political similarity between the Southwest and the Southeast is how the families were classified by their social status. Another similarity is they primarily farmed corn, beans and squash.

A difference between the Southwest and the plains is their housing. In the Plains they primarily lived in teepees while in the Southwest they lived in stone and adobe houses. Another difference between the two is that the Plains had the introduction of horses by the Europeans while in the Southwest they hadn't been introduced yet.

The Southwest American Indians and other tribes in regions such as West and Northeastern had rigid social structures where men worked the land, hunted, fished and made important decisions whereas women had more household responsibilities such as cooking, cleaning and taking care of children.

Unlike the Southwest region that was characterized by drought, the Northeast has nice temperature and access to various waterways. Despite the differences in climate, both the regions had fertile soil and were able to farm and practice agriculture.

Natives in regions such as the Plains and Southeast practiced trading just as natives in the Southwest did. Chaco Canyon(SW) was a trade urban center and served as a hub of trade just as mound cities (SE) did.

In the northeast, they had a three-sister farming system that grew corn, beans, squash, etc. Similar to the southeast they also grew beans and squash. This is similar because they are both located in the eastern part of the country.

One difference that I noticed throughout the other groups presentations was the how the Northeast had not only alliances but also conflicts with other surrounding tribes in that area. This is different in that It was quit rare for tribes to have any relationship with outside tribes making tribes like the Iroquois(Northeast tribe) stand out from the other regions.

One similarity that I was able to point out after listening to the groups share their region was the slavery that was prevalent in the southeast and the west. Specifically, The Creek people located in Georgia utilized slavery heavily to complete the needed tasks. The tribe in the west that practiced slavery was the Chinookan tribe. For the reason why they utilized slavery, my best guess is that it was because they had such a strict and already set social structure and decided that it would be easier to have people complete tasks for them as in captives or enemies. Or people that went against the rules of the tribe. This was simply a way of utilized or allowing the native citizens to make up their debt or pay off.

One large piece that I noticed the majority of the tribes in the regions shared was utilizing spiritual or religious practices or aspects for their climate. This can include praying for suitable weather, and a abundance of crops not only that, but many of the different regions all allowed for either hereditary or spiritual factors to be what determines the social status of the tribe. Woman also were seen to have high status as religious figures throughout a couple of the tribes.

Native American tribes in the southeast and West both used slavery in their economies. The more rigorous tasks would be completed by slaves such has hunting buffalo and things that could get people killed. A lot of dirty and hard work would be done by them that was higher classed people were "too good" to do. Slaves were usually the people of the lowest classes.

Unlike in the North where the climates are constantly changing but always moist and fertile the South was the opposite. The south had very dry climate and it was a very flat environment. The north was very rocky with huge mountains and low valleys. Because of this people in the Southern plains were also very nomadic because they were constantly needing to find new food and resources. In the north the people there also had to know lots of different forms of agriculture because of the ever changing micro environments.

A difference between the North and the southern plains is that the tribes in the plains were not as recognized and not as together as the tribes in the north who had tribe leaders and larger political systems. This is because people in the southern plains were nomadic and constantly had do move around. Because of this it was difficult to make a permanent tribe and political system. People in the south were also very spread apart in comparison the North where they were a little closer together. This again made it difficult for people in the south to form large tribes.

In the Southwest and West; something that was similar between these two was the geographical features. Some of their land was around and in between the rocky mountains, leading to rocky and rough soil to work with for farming even though their soil was fertile, this soil fertility helped them to continue to thrive for so long, and the protection of the mountains helped them stay peacefully.

A similarity between the Southwest, the plains, and the Southeast was their beliefs toward gods of nature. The plains and Southeast were more focused toward the spirits than gods, they did worship specific gods for fertility of the soil and good crops, like the Southwest native tribes.

A difference between the Southwest and the northeast was the political issues of the Northeast versus the relatively peacefulness of the southwest. In the Southwest the 3 main tribes had eventually merged together, but in the northeast there was ongoing conflicts between the Iroquois and Algonquians until eventually they were able to settle their differences.

One difference I saw between the Southeast and the Southwest was the housing they lived in. The Southeast tribes lived in mounds, wooden structures and chickee. While the Soutwest tribes lived in stone and mud buildings with thatched roofs. These housing changes are due to the changes in climate and elevation between the regions.

In the South east the tribes build these mounds for many different uses. Most of the time it was a political structure or a religious or worship center. What is known as the Poverty Point is a Main sacred point for worship/religious purposes.

Compared to the other reigons, the tribes in the plains had a lot less centralization, as the envroment of the plains often required tribes to move around a lot more due to the heat, lack of water, and reliance on the bison as food an material sources

In Western areas, tribes had access to rivers and waterways in order to fish. In the Southwest however, it was very dry and arid, so they were not able to hunt for the same kinds of animals.

A similarity I noticed was between the plains and the west. Both societies were able to create extensive trade networks in their own regions.

A social similarity between the southeast and the plains is that both of their religious beliefs revolve heavily around nature. They would host rituals and ceremonies to worship the land around them and the gift that it was to their culture.

A difference between the southwest tribes and the plains tribes is the lifestyles they lived. Because of a surplus in food, the southwest tribes were fortunate enough to live a sedentary lifestyle, while the tribes in the plains were forced to be nomads, moving around the terrain as the seasons changed.

This made access to wood much more convenient, while tribes who lived in the dry south west had little to no access to wood. While the plains was very dry, they mainly were hunters and gathers. They would ride horses and often move around for hunting purposes.

The southeast and the plains both did not have a currency, but they both would trade things with equal value. For example, in the Plains, tribes would breed and trade horses.

Southwest and Northeast had similar gender roles. Woman would work in the home, take care of children and process the crops, while men would plant and harvest or in the Northeast, make decisions in an informal council.

Difference Plains and Southeast. The civilizations in the plains would tend to move around while the ones in the Southeast would mainly stay put this is because the Southeast were were able to use their resources to survive all year long while the plains had to move around to survive.

A Similarity I noticed between the Southeast and West was how both areas' tribes utilized slavery. In the west the Chinookan used slavery to help complete tasks and this was similar to Southeastern tribes like the Cherokees, Choctaws, Chickasaws, Creeks, and Seminoles, who all used slavery.

The West region, the weather changes often and impacted the diverse environment and more diverse system of agriculture due to biomes formining. Unlike the Northeast, temperatures were cooler due to the coast or river valleys that cool down the Northeasten tribes. The West region had lots of fertile land, however the Northeast had accessible waterways which had fertile land that was perfect for farming.

A geographical difference I noticed between the Plains and the Southeast is that the people in the Southeast were to farm much more than those in the Plains. This is most likely due to the rivers and climate that allowed for farming.

One political similarity I noticed between the Plains and the West was that, although there were groups known as triblets and bands respectively, there was little to no solid political structure and there were no definitive leaders.

An economic difference I saw between the Plains and the Northeast was that the economy of the Plains was largely based on hunting such as buffalo, better hunting locations and horses that helped them get an upper hand over other tribes while the Northeast was mainly focused on commodities such as beans, corn and squash. This is because the geography of the Plains was better suited towards hunting while the geographical features of the Northeast allowed for farming.

One similarity I noticed between the Southeast region and the West was the utilization of trade networks and the practice of enslaving members from other tribes. They both sold similar commodities ranging from argriculture products, such as corn, to other products such as Buffalo skin, soapstone, and flint. However, the West region built canoes that gave them an advantage when it came to marketing and selling fish. This was because they resided closer to rivers.

One political difference between the Southeast region and the Plains is that the latter consisted of no definitive political structures while the former consisted of a pretty strategic governmental system, (chiefdoms) which included rank, social status, etc. This could possibly be because the Plain region tribes were more nomadic and accustomed to traveling, while the southeast region was more permanent.

One similarity between the Southeast and Northeast is the access to fertile soil and the prosperity of crops. This was because of the climate and access to waterways. Therefore, both regions welcomed systems of agriculture and shifted away from the traditional hunting and gathering.

Most communities were compromised of small families and tribelets, moving around for hunting and gathering purposes never found much need for set laws or systems. Contrarily, the Southeastern natives had set political structures called Cheif-doms, where families were divided by social status, while Cheifs power was indicated through their clothes, housing, and wealth.

Both the Southeast and Northeast Native American settlements were based upon the tropical, warm, and fertile farming land. Both communities had an abundance of access to water from rivers and had set irrigation systems for farming.

I noticed that socially the Northeast and the West were very similar. The men had the roles of hunting while the women stayed at home and took care of children and prepared the food.

A difference I learned was that the southwest tribes had a council. The natives in the west were not very politcally involved. They had tribelets but thats about it.

The Plains had horses while the west did not. The west had buffalo but did not mention horses.

A similarity with the Northeast I noticed was both areas were heavily based on the agriculture of maize. Another similarity is both groups were based around a river, for southeast it was the Mississippi, and the northeast was the ohio river. A main difference was the approach to their politics, the northeast was based in a democracy and southeast was chiefdom.

In the Southwest a difference was the climate where it was relatively dry and in the southeast it had plenty of rainfall. Another difference is the use of irrigation systems in the southwest, because the southeast was based on a river, there wasn't a need for irrigation. A similarity is both regions grew maize.

A similarity with the west region was the agricultural use of the local rivers, West was the Colorado river. A difference is the practice of slavery where the southeast didn't use slavery. Another difference is the economy, the West used acorns as currency and the southeast used trading areas for their economy.

Something that was different between my group, the north east, and most other groups was that religion was not as important. This might be because of the tribes in the north east having republican principals.

A similarity I noticed between my group and every other group is that they either had hunting or gathering. My area had both but each was somewhat similar to the other despite the geography.

Another difference that I noticed was no other area had a "political system" like the north easts Iroquois league. This might be because of a uniquecway that tribes in the north east resolved tension.

The social structures of the west and plains were similar because of the bison in both areas. The West wasn't all coastal mountains. A lot of it was plains.

Each society had a different type of material for housing because of the different climates. The adobe houses prevented dust, the wood prevented cold, and the mud prevented the wind.

Fishing and hunting were very valuable practivces that brought mass amounts of materials for the people.

One Difference I noticed was how different The houses in the plains and in the southwest were. This is because the plains is much colder than the southwest and they needed to keep the heat in.

In the plains there economies were built up through hunting and gathering mainly the hunting of bison for its wool and food. While in the Southwest they depended for the grand majority on farming as there are a was very arid and there best area for survival was growing their own food instead of looking for food throughout the dry area. There styles of economies are very different because they lived in very different areas that required different to survive.

In the Southwest the area was always very dry and arid that often caused droughts. In the plains they did not have a lot of heat and even got snow in the winters. They had to have different farming styles so that there crops could survive in their very different weathers.

In the Southwest their government was a legislative counsel in which they would vote on decisions. In the Southeast they had chiefdoms in which your rank in society was based on how related you were to the chief. The different places had different beliefs and ruled their societies accordingly to what their religion and traditions were.

A similarity between the northeast and southwest regions is that they both trade with distant villages. Within the northeast, the primary reason for contact between villages was to trade for the specialties of different villages. Similarly, the southwest participated in trade and even had roads between villages. Both regions participate in trade because they both used farming and it's easier to farm smaller amounts of crops and simply trade for the remaining crops.

A difference between the northeast and the plains is that the plains focus on hunting and gathering, whereas farming had more success in the northeast. This is because the plains had worse climate conditions compared to the northeast, which made farming plants more likely to perish or produce less quantities of food.

Western and Plains tribes were similar in the sense that because they practiced mixed hunter-gatherer economies, women were homemakers, which included farming, while the men were primarily hunters.

Northeastern and Plains tribes differed in their political systems. Plains tribes simply believed that more horses and land meant more power, whereas Northeastern tribes such as the Iroquois had bureaucratic systems.

Some similarities between the Plains and Southeastern tribes had similar economies in the sense that one of their main food sources was buffalo, and apart from horses, rivers were a major method of transportation which they used for both hunting and trading.

One Similarity I noticed between the Southwest and Southeast was there social roles both these regions were hunters and gathers where the men would hunt and the women take care of the kids, crops and house.

A difference I noticed between the Southwest and Southeast was the geographical location. The Southwest was very hot and dry with little rainfall and severe droughts. While, the Southeast had the ideal climate for farming and had access to plenty of water along the coastline.

One difference I noticed was that the West was different from the Plains because the West was more of a sedentary society as a result of the abundance of resources while the Plains was more nomadic.

A similarity I noticed was that the West and the Northeast's roles of women were the same in that they both took care of the crops.

Another similarity was that in some parts of the West and in the Southeast, bison was hunted as a result of some similar parts in geography.

Similarity and difference: I noticed that the social structures were very similar in the West and Northeast. Women were caregivers and men did the hard labor. The Southwest and Southeast were different though, women helped harvest and prepare meat.

Similarity: All regions had many tribes. They were all different but there were at least two.

Difference: The geography of all regions was different. The Southwest had canyons and flat-top mountains. The West was flat and had abundant rivers. The Northeast was mountainous and had many hills. The Southeast was flat and had access to the Mississippi River. The Plains were flat with few lakes and rivers.

A difference I noticed was the housing. For example, the tribes in the southwest had permanent housing, while the tribes in the plains had more temporary housing. This was because of how the people in the southwest were farming, which required them to stay put, while the people in the plains had to move around with the buffalo that they hunted.

Another difference I noticed was that in the northeast, women tended the house while men farmed, while in the southeast, the women helped plant and harvest crops. I think this difference is caused by hunting being more prevalent in the southwest, which was the men's job, leaving the farming to the women.

One similarity I noticed was the fact that the gender roles were similar for each of the groups, with only small differences between them. There is also a lot more equality between genders than in Europe.

In the west, the acorn is the main use of currency and value. This is different to the plains where quantity of horses meant you have power and a person of value. Horses had much value because of the ability to be a nomadic herders and hunter gatherers.

Tribes in the west tended to not have any strong form of gorvernment. Instead they would have popular and strong men to make sure things went smoothly in the civilization. This is different to civiizations in the Northeast which tended to have stronger forms of government. They had republican principles and dual federalism.

Political similarity - a political similarity between the Native Americans from the West and Southwest is that both regions featured a combination of Native Americans who lived in larger and more interconnected tribes as well as less populated areas featuring Natives living in smaller groups that were more selectively based around family ties than Tribal/ethnic heritage. They would also both break these large tribes of political organization into smaller groups when Natives from either the West or the Plains went hunting.

Social similarity - a social similarity between the Native Americans from the West and the Plains is that Natives from both regions had extensive spiritual beliefs and practices, with both performing certain rituals that they believed could give them good luck in the future. In the west, they would do this before hunting season in particular so because they believed it could help them get lots of food that year.

Economic difference - an economic difference between Native Americans from the West and the Northeast was that the Natives in the West used hunting and gathering to get access to the food they would eat and the goods they would trade, whereas Natives in the northeast would predominantly focus on agriculture and growing the food they would eat instead of trying to trade or get meat.

A similarity between the northeast and the plains is the use of the three sister farming system. An agricultural practice that main components consists of bean, corn and squash. The trio of plants get their name because of their usefulness when planted together, they nourish each other and grow better hence the name three sister farming.

A difference between the northeast region and the plains were the social status aspect of things. In the northeast, the tribes came together and to prevent intertribal wars they united into a group called "Iroquois League", the format of this group is often compared to the US constitution being an early version a couple hundred years early. Mean while the plains people were divided in the groups called "bands", these bands of people could range from 12 people to 100. this society resembled a matrilineal society.

A similarity between the plains and the northeast was the equality of men and women, although in the northeast women berry picked and men hunted, it was a society that had everyone equal to one another and woman were equal to men. Just like the plains in which also had women equal to men.

A similarity between the Southwest and the Northwest is that they usually did not have a chief or leader of the tribe. This is because, since most of them were nomadic they would go from place to place to find food and could not establish a set location which they could rely on for food which would help them boost their economy and help them establish a political system.

Another similarity that I noticed between the tribe is that they both were not gold and silver economies or used a specific type of currency. They both traded products such as flour, crops, ceramics. etc. This is due to them not having a developed economy which is caused by as explained above, their nomadic lifestyle, as well as practicality.

A major difference I noticed is that the southwest tribes were more egalitarian in their gender roles as men and women's main roles were both in charge of tending to crops where as in the Northwest they were more complimentarian in the sense that men would go out and hunt and women would process the meat and tend to the crops. This is mostly due to the taxing nature of going to hunt for animals and carrying them back to the village which was better suited for men's larger build.

One significant commonality between the Northeastern region and other American regions, particularly the Plains, was the use of "Three Sister Farming." This agricultural method involved cultivating corn, squash, and beans together, which provided essential sustenance for the populations in these regions.

One similarity is between the southwest region and the northeast region was the practice of corn farming. Most other tribes relied on hunting to gather food, but northwest and southwest tribes relied on the land to farm their own food.

Additionally, there was a similarity between the Plains tribes and the West tribes. Both of these regions used various forms of transportation to be partly nomadic. Plains tribes used horses, while Western tribes used canoes. This transportation allowed food and resources limited the scarcity of food and other resources.

One major difference I noticed was between the Plains tribes and the Southeastern tribes. Plains tribes constructed wikiups, portable tents made typically of bison hide. The southeastern tribes constructed chickees, buildings with thatched roofs and no walls. These chickees were more permanent, and often built around Mississippian mounds.

An economic similarity I learned between the Southeast and the West is the use of slavery at the time. In the Southeast, The Creek people used slaves for extensive labor. Comparatively, in the West, the Chinookan tribe also used slaves to complete difficult labor, but they also used those who went against the tribe as a way to pay off their debt.

A political similarity I learned between the Southeast and the Southwest was that both regions primarily cultivated corn, squash, and beans. Both regions specifically cultivated these foods due to environmental reasons: Both have warm and humid weather with fertile soil, making the best conditions for the "Three Sisters" to grow together. Additionally, families were classified according to their social status.

A social similarity between the Southeast and Southwest regions is that both practiced trading through trade hub centers. The Southwest referred to theirs as Chaco Canyon, while the Southeast had Mound Cities; this made trade more straightforward for natives and travelers.

A huge similarity between South west and the plains were that they both had huge draughts causing them to put more focus on hunting rather then crop farming as that was more reliable.

Another big similarity was that both focused a lot on religion. The people believed that praying to their crops and to things like the sun would give them luck and prevent them from having bad crops/weather.

A big difference was their political structure. The Plains had chiefdoms and groups that would go around making decisions as a collective. The South West had a very loose political hold on them and everyone was seen on the seem level as each other making decisions as a tribe.

A similarity between the Southwest and the West was that both engaged in trading. In the Southwest, tribes often traded and bartered amongst themselves, however they mostly stuck to trading within in their tribe. Similarly, Western tribes traded as well, but they were known to trade with other regions for specific resources such as hides and shells.

Another similarity between the Southwest and the West was that both had a specific currency. In the Southwest, tribes utilized turquoise, while in the West, tribes used acorns. This shows how both the tribes of the West and Southwest had some economic structure as well as involvement within their own tribes as well as other regions.

A major difference I found between the Southwest and West was how the tribes of each region settled on their respective land. In the Southwest, tribes practiced farming, such as the "three sisters" method, which led to the creation of more permanent and larger settlements. On the contrary, Western tribes remained nomadic, practicing hunting and gathering, and only settling on land for as long as it was plentiful.

A similarity I noticed between the Southwest and the Southeast was their gender roles. Both had women participate in agriculture, while men would handle political and economic issues such as trading and governing the community

One difference between the Southwest and the West was a difference in trade goods. The Southwest's main goods were agricultural products such as maize, showing their lifestyle in farming-based settlements. On the other hand, The west traded mainly in salmon, due to their access to natural lakes and rivers which they used to fish.

One similarity I noticed between the Southwest and the Northeast was settlements. Both lived in permanent settlements based around agriculture.

A Similarity I noticed between the Southwest and the Plains is that they both are farmers. Growing corn, beans, and squash as their main crops.

A difference I noticed was that in the Plains they're very socially unorganized. Mostly men having all of the power, while women and men in the Southeast would farm together sharing some power.

Another similarity I found was that both regions have lots of mountains, fertile land for agriculture, and is a hot climate. However the Southwest was hot year round and the Plains got cold and snowy in winters.
