Shabani et al. and Fastame et al. both show how faith and spirituality help people deal with health challenges. Shabani et al. explain that people with spinal cord injuries, along with their families, have better mental health when they have strong spiritual beliefs and resilience. Fastame et al. also show that being religious helps people recover from health problems because it gives them ways to cope. Both sources make it clear that faith isn’t just about belief, it gives people the strength to handle tough situations and improves both mental and physical well-being.

Zimmerman et al. and Hitchcott et al. both focus on how being socially connected improves mental health. Zimmerman et al. explain that spiritual interventions can help older adults feel better emotionally by reducing negative feelings and improving mental health. Hitchcott et al. focus on how participating in social activities, like sports or cultural events, helps people make friends, feel less lonely, and stay active. Even though one source talks about faith-based interventions and the other focuses on general social activities, both show that having strong connections with others is important for staying mentally healthy.
