The movement was not only well-organized but also widely supported, and eventually, the government had no choice but to withdraw the bill. This event became a great example of how a united and determined community can bring about change without resorting to violence.

For centuries, guthis have played a crucial role in preserving religious rituals, festivals, and social traditions in the Newari community. Since these institutions provide financial and organizational support for many cultural activities, people feared that their heritage would slowly disappear if the bill was passed.
