It was inspiring to see our secondary students engaging with so much passion and purpose for our primary students to learn, reflect, and take action against bullying!

This session was part of our ongoing series providing spaces for parents to learn and discuss mental health matters. Parents engaged enthusiastically and gained valuable insights into the topic, along with strategies to support their children’s wellbeing.

We were grateful to welcome Dr. Victoria Mountford from Sage Clinics Dubai, who shared her expertise with our parent community on eating disorders and body image. Dr. Mountford provided valuable insights into what signs to watch for and how to support children and teens who may face these challenges – the right way.

Parents left feeling empowered and better equipped to help their children develop a positive relationship with food and body image. In addition, a special talk was prepared for our secondary students to foster open conversations and promote healthy, positive approaches to body image.

We walked parents through the step-by-step process of how children learn to read and shared simple, effective activities they can create and use at home to build confidence and fluency.

It was brilliant to see the enthusiasm and engagement from everyone who attended — when school and home work together, children thrive.

Through these hands-on sessions, students explored core musical elements such as rhythm, tempo, texture, and polyrhythmic layering, gaining a deeper appreciation for the rich traditions and cultural significance of African drumming.

The workshops not only enhanced their understanding of global musical styles, but also encouraged collaboration, creativity, and cultural curiosity, bringing learning to life through sound and movement. It was a truly vibrant celebration of music as a universal language

On May 21st, we welcomed Dr. Tezeem Dhanji and Sarah Mamari for an insightful session on “Helping Boys Thrive: How Families and Schools Can Promote Wellbeing”, a powerful discussion on emotional health and development in young boys. On May 23rd, Tim Mann MBE from the Breck Foundation led an eye-opening online session on “Online Grooming”, equipping families with the knowledge to keep children safe in the digital world.

Held in the auditorium during the school day, the session provided practical strategies to help students recognise and manage stress, build resilience, and feel more confident in the lead-up to their exams. It was an engaging and empowering experience, equipping our learners with useful tools to support both their emotional wellbeing and academic success.

Our Grade 5 students had the chance to ask all their burning questions and gain real insight into what life in Secondary is really like. The session helped ease nerves, build excitement, and create a positive connection between the year groups.

The Junk Kouture Finals will take place in May, where all city finalists will be showcased globally in a dynamic, digital celebration of youth creativity and sustainable design. From this showcase the 10 top designs from 10 schools across the UAE will be chosen to represent the country at the 2025 Junk Kouture World Final.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a globally recognized youth development program that challenges students to push beyond their limits through outdoor expeditions, skills development, voluntary service, and physical activities. Designed to inspire personal growth and self-reliance, the program equips young people with confidence and essential life skills that prepare them for future success.

From February 22-24, 2025, a talented delegation of students from Swiss International Scientific School Dubai (SISD) took part in the World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) – Dubai I Round, hosted by Sunmarke School and Indian High School. This prestigious academic competition brought together young scholars from across the region to engage in debate, collaborative writing, and critical thinking challenges—all designed to celebrate knowledge, teamwork, and global perspectives.

Our SISD delegation was represented by six incredible teams competing across both the Junior and Senior divisions. The students showcased their intellectual curiosity and teamwork throughout the event, participating in rigorous debates, tackling thought-provoking essay prompts, and demonstrating their mastery of this year’s WSC theme.

Dr. Mulligan delivered an engaging and insightful talk, guiding students on how to navigate life’s challenges by developing grit and resilience. Through his workshop, students gained valuable strategies to manage stress, build emotional strength, and maintain a healthy mindset.

Ross Addison explored the impact of social media on young minds, addressing both its benefits and challenges. Students gained valuable strategies to develop healthy digital habits, manage screen time, and protect their mental well-being in an increasingly connected world.

One of the greatest strengths of our all-through school is the sense of togetherness it fosters. With learners from ages 3 to 18 under one roof, our youngest students look up to their older peers, drawing motivation from their achievements and growing in confidence. In turn, our senior students embrace their role as mentors and role models, sharing their experiences and guiding the next generation.

On November 20th, SISD celebrated World Children’s Day with a special CRC Workshop hosted during lunch in the Secondary Atrium. Organized by the Sustainability Council, this event brought attention to the United Nations' Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and engaged students in meaningful discussions about children’s rights.

Through interactive activities and inspiring messages, students explored how upholding children’s rights can shape a better world for today, tomorrow, and the future. The workshop featured thought-provoking visuals, including the CRC poster and impactful quotes from UNICEF, leaving attendees motivated to take action.

Thank you to all the students and staff who participated and helped make this event a resounding success. Together, we continue to champion the rights and wellbeing of every child.

The competition aims to promote an ethos of fair play and teamwork. It also encourages students to have fun, learn to positively manage time, think critically, read mindfully, learn a few things along the way, and most importantly enjoy reading!
